Best Primes to cover whole S16 frame?

Hello all.

 

Just wondering if I can get some thoughts on whether Zeiss Mk1 B-mount Super Speeds (1.3) 9.5, 12, 16, 25 will cover the whole S16 frame, specifically when used with the following cameras:

 

1. Aaton LTR 54

2. Eclair S16 ACL II

 

Any thoughts on the best lower-cost primes to look our for? Do all mm in the range work the same with S16?

 

Any help would be great.

They all cover S16. Not much else around unless you go for brand new Cooke S4 16 lenses or the new 16mm Master Primes (but they're nowhere to be found if you want to rent them - too new).

I've got the Zeiss Mk1 Super Speed 9.5 and 16mm and both cover the Super 16 frame on my Aaton LTR no problem.

Don't forget about the Optar Illumina lenses:

They're a lot cheaper than Zeiss lenses. I've used the 9.5mm in the past with good results. I'm about to shoot a feature with the 9.5mm, plus a new 16mm, 25mm, and 50mm. I'll try to let you know how it goes.

 

And they all cover S16 on my Aaton LTR-54.
