Rob van Gelder
We recently got a Dedolight 400 lamp, which comes with a "Black Tip" HMI 400 watt lamp. The black tip is to reduce internal reflections, however, we are unsure which side has to face the front lens. Here are 2 pictures of both sides of the lamp, is there someone in the know out there? There is no info in the Dedo website and also the manual is not clear about the position.
JD Hartman
I don't own a Dedo, but I'd conclude that that the black should face the reflector. In this way, a "ghosted" image of the internal components will not be projected.
Premium Member Luke Prendergast Posted February 14, 2007 Premium Member Share Posted February 14, 2007 Haven't used Dedo's, but logic says - if the black side is toward the reflector, what is the reflector for? In my repair days I saw many assorted fixtures with a metal tab shielding the lamp on the lens side.
Sing Lo
Haven't used Dedo's, but logic says - if the black side is toward the reflector, what is the reflector for? In my repair days I saw many assorted fixtures with a metal tab shielding the lamp on the lens side. My 150W Dedolight tungsten lamp shielding has slightly different design. The black shield is built inside the globe holder on the aspheric lens side, instead of coming with the globe. So I would say your lamp black shield should face the lens.
