Premium Member Hal Smith Posted April 20, 2007 Premium Member Share Posted April 20, 2007 I've got a huge hoard of NOS and tested good vacuum tubes. Many are the more professional and broadcast electronics types. I'll sell them to Forum members wanting to fix old sound cameras, tape recorders, etc. for $5.00 each (excepting rarities like 1L6's and some of the scarce Hi-Fi tubes). Michael Collier
Forgive the question, I assure you its because of my age. I know what vacuum tubes do...like a transistor they have a collector base and emitter, but could you shed a little light on how they are driven? I know it can't be as simple as biasing the base with .7v or more. Is there a place I can find their lower threshold values or saturation values? how about typical frequency response, I suppose I cannot pass a phased 20mhz signal through it and have it clean on the other end (not sure why I would do that...I am just unfamiliar with the specifics of tubes. I just know transistors replaced them, and my fender amp has some inside, though I think thats only a pre-amp. Power amp seems to be transistor.) any info you can shed would be great (or point me to a resource)
