Where do I begin?

I'm a new union film loader and am severely behind in basic technical knowledge. What literature, other than Doug Hart's Camera Assistant's Handbook and Stephen H. Burum's American Cinematographer Manual: Ninth Edition would you recommend to bring me up to speed with everyone else in my position? I'm finding that it's true what all of the AC's are tell me... "It's not the loading that's difficult. It's everything else!"

first, welcome to the boards! Check out the recommended books section at the bottom of the forum list. There's a load of books to help you. Also, when facing a specific problem, something that's not clear to you, use the search mode to look through older threads. You'll find many topics discussed. If that still doesn't solve you problem, feel free to ask!

What kind of technical knowledge are you lacking?

Where do you live? You should go to some rental houses and pick their brains...it's more fun than reading a book and you'll get to meet new people too.
