Film studies around the world

Recommended Posts

Hello, I'm Caroline, I'm a dutchie living in Israel, I'm currently filming alot of what's going out around here.

Anyway, I've been thinking about studying film next year, Only I would really want to go to the best place, Not only somwhere that'll get you to hollywood and make you a money machine, somewhere where film is art, not business or proffesion. although i got quite used to moving around the world and finding myself in places like Israel/Palestine I'm still a bit scared of putting all my savings into a place which will dissapoint me. I'd really like to know if any of you know such a place, where film is not greens $ but is beauty, and life.

Thank you all for helping.

Caroline.

I make a living out of living, not out of making fake TV or cheap Hollywood flicks.

That's why i worked hard and saved money, so i'd manage.

Anyhow, the Question was not if it's unhelpful, but where I can find it. If it exists at all.

Also, You can make enough money out of making art, not everything needs to be hollywood.

Thanks anyway,

Caroline.

AFI seems to be the closest to you're looking for. I know some people who have gone there.

It's difficult because most peoplre are not like you and really want to be able to succeed once they leave film school. But they are well known for nuturing they're students. You should look into it.

I'm not too familiar with schools in Europe but perhaps there might be a school over there, away from Hollywood, that might be a good fit for you. Maybe some place in London or Paris.

Check out VGIK - The Russian Institute of Cinematography, The Polish National Film School in Lodz, Poland and the FAMU in the Czech Republic - I think they might do some courses in English now, though they do have language courses for foreign students. They do 1 year courses as well as 4 year courses. These schools teach some of the most comprehensive theoretical AND practical film courses in the world. They are very much into the art of cinema.

A nice school to attend is Vancouver Film School. Not only is it quite reputable it is also in a nice area of the world with lots of jobs in the field. So Check it at http://www.vfs.com/

HOpefully this will help you in your search. :)

HERE is a quote that describes it perfictly

"Vancouver (population 2.4 million) is consistently rated among the world's most desirable places to live. It's been chosen the host city for the 2010 Winter Olympics and is only a 90-minute drive away from its 2010 co-host, the world class destination resort of Whistler, BC.

As North America's third largest film, television and video production center (after LA and New York), Vancouver boasts an ever-increasing number of film, animation and sound studios, theatre, production and interactive media companies. The city is nestled in a breathtaking landscape formed by the meeting of the Pacific Ocean and the coastal mountains of BC. Surrounded by wilderness parks, Vancouver is virtual paradise for lovers of sports and the outdoors. The city offers a rich multicultural community, safe streets, sandy beaches, a vibrant nightlife, and a thriving arts culture at its heart." From VFS's site.
