Premium Member Adrian Sierkowski Posted August 14, 2008 Premium Member Share Posted August 14, 2008 AFAIK they were all replaced by the 758. If you're a student or you know a student you can get a mad discount from Mac On Campus. . . I think around $400 for a new L758.
John-Erling Holmenes Fredriksen
You can still get the 558 off Ebay if you want.
Premium Member Chris Keth Posted August 15, 2008 Premium Member Share Posted August 15, 2008 There are plenty of meters available that don't costan arm and a leg. My main meter (Minolta Autometer Vf) cost a hundred bucks and my backup (spectra classic) cost me 40.
Mihai Bodea
I suggest to search for Kenko KFM-2100. in fact it is the minolta product sold, after sony took over, to another manufacturer, namely tokina. the product is the same. I own a minolta flash meter VI f, and I value it to be better then any sekonic I've used. my only disappointment is it's lack of waterproofing but I would still buy a new one as a backup. and it's cheaper. oscar jimenez
A good light meter is very important, more important is the man behind the light meter, be it a super simple model ( such as Spectra Candela Classic, never fails!!!) or a brand new Sekonic with features for cinematographers such as film compensation, etc. but is a great meter indeed anyways!!! Cheers Oscar
