New Reel

Hi everyone,

Im in the process of cutting my showreel today and for the next week and this is my first cut. Its All S16 with one HD shoot.

I was wondering if you could let me know of anything that would make the reel better, if you like it or dont, and

pace

music

if the cuts work

anyshots that should play longer

anyshots that dont work, or you dont like

and what you think does work

 

Its on Youtube at the moment, but when i have a locked cut i'll put it on my website which will of course be a better codec and much better quality.

The rhythm of the cutting is rather sloooooow. Also, I don't think the opening contains your strongest work.

I agree about the opening and the slower cutting. Plus there appears to be a continuity problem in the opening "cigarette?" scene. It's a jump cut, of course, but it just looks like it's part of a completed sequence and a bit jarring for me.

Where'd you get the song? I like it a lot, I just think you need to sync the image/audio differently to keep eyes on it. I'd also recommend more of the beech stuff at the opening of the reel and there is one shot of a man and a woman with a horribly blown out window which just distracts from the otherwise very natural lighting right at about 1 min in.

I agree with the other people

but you do have some really nice shots:)you clearly know your cinematography.

just work on the editing and pace,thats been my biggest problem,I suck at editing:(
