Premium Member Paul Bruening Posted October 12, 2008 Author Premium Member Share Posted October 12, 2008 What's the deal with martial law? My wife said they were talking about it on Fark.com. Just at this moment, we're watching Paris Hilton's My New BFF. They're not saying anything about martial law on BFF. Where are you guys getting your news? Like, totally? K Borowski
He'll have to take the blame for the mess in Iraq, and the lack of response to Katrina as well. He should take the blame for both of these things. He and his administration were directly responsible for causing/misadministering these two events. However, Bill Clinton's laxening of regulations on banks are just as responsible for this crisis. Democrats and Republicans, even independents are all equally responsible for this giant mess in the United States. Let's not blame George W. Bush for Wallstreet and now all of Europe's woes. Guest
You know what is odd...John McCain wasn't even born in the USA, and yet he is running for president of the USA. That must make a few Republicans scratch their heads  R,
Matthew Buick
No death penalty that's fine, national healthcare also fine, but I don't want homeless people living in my basement. I have to draw the line some where :D R,

No course not.. He's only been in power nearly eight years so it must be Clintons fault. It amazes me how someone who made a mistake many years ago can be blamed years after as an excuse for inaction... That is just plain ridiculous.. I have to draw the line some where :D One might be able to use the 3rd Amendment to argue against housing homeless people in your basement. "No Soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the Owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law." Oh! Wait. You're too far north of the Mason-Dixon Line. Then again once they're housed in your basement, they're no longer homeless. You're screwed.

It might be stickier than the homeless. We don't know what my wife's rather large family will do in this quirky market. We may end up putting some of them up for a while. I think all of them are into the banks for their housing. We just don't know yet how many of the retired ones are taking a bath in the current stock market. We won't find out until they are at our doorstep. We cannot afford to feed them and all the rest that comes with destitution. You can kind-of turn a blind eye to the suffering of strangers. But, family, you have to take in.
Mark Williams
Any one notice how all the European and American banks are being taken into state control? If you control the banks you control the wealth and Capitalism itself... Bush created the problem by allowing subprime loans to get out of control and now it seems he has supplied the solution... I never thought America would turn socialist. :)

That must make a few Republicans scratch their heads  John McCain was born in the Panama Canal Zone when it was under US control. This qualifies him as a natural born citizen by birth. See section 1 of Article II of the Constitution containing the clause: ? No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States. ? However as much as I think I'd like John McCain as a buddy...I voted for Obama. Voted? Past tense? My business can pull me out of town on an emergency with no notice so I voted absentee. The Canadian banks are getting nothing, considering they don't need it. So that's what you get for doing things right, screwed. There is a lesson in this for business school grads. R, Yes blackmail is never a nice option but the right thing is always the best one in the longer term. Here in the UK we lost our democracy and now control of our wealth creation.. So where to from here? We all know how this plays out excessive greed and more more will make their demands we will end up as nothing more than workers and elite rulers. But fear not Canada Im sure your turn to get properly screwed is just around the corner.

Ya well That's kinda what happened RIGHT before the French Revolution, the Russian Revolution, the American Revolution ect. ect. ect. People will only take so much of this crap, after that the "elite" had better start watching their collective asses because the unwashed masses won't want to talk then. They'll just be lookin' to take a nice big bite outta that sweet meat.

James Steven Beverly
We're talking about the most inept and corrupt government since Warren G. Harding POSSIBLY since James Buchhanan, who are just plain BLATANT about the total disregard for the rule of law and the Constitution of the United States! Low key is definitely NOT their strong suit, however they EXCEL at stupidity so I guess the scales even out! B)
