Kevin Fox
Newbie question, but is it better to use a 3/4 CTO gel over a 5500k fluorescent fixture to match it to a tungsten keylight, or it it better to use a flo fixture with 3200k lamps? Obviously, since the gel only has a trans of 58% I would need to use more punch in the fills. The reason I ask is that I understand the CRI of lower kelvin flo's can be problematic. Application would be for video on an interior set (interview set). Any ideas welcome! Best, Kevin Fox
David Rakoczy
1. Swap the Globes for 3200 Flos if you can. 2. Use HMIs to match the 5500k if you can't. 3. None of the above? Start Gelling and hope you still have a decent Stop. 4. Enjoy the mixed color temps when all else fails.
Michael LaVoie
I use a 1/4 minus green or less on the 3200K flo's. The problem with the CRI is that it's usually in the 80's as opposed to the daylight tubes which are in the high 90's.
Ram Shani
for tungsten, i use the 2900K flu, that has great match to the light's. because tungsten light tend to be more around that color temp
