Brian Dzyak
NYFA, LAFS or UCLA ???And tell me plz If I have F-1 student visa, Can I find a job as loader or AC ??? Well, with everything governmental, the rules are bit confusing, but it appears that you would need to also fill out Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization (links just below). http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...00045f3d6a1RCRD http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...00045f3d6a1RCRD For formal cinematography education, look into these: http://livedesignonline.com/mag/lighting_first_class_behind/ http://cinema.usc.edu/admissions/course-of.../production.htm http://www.tft.ucla.edu/programs/cinematography/about/ http://www.ncarts.edu/filmmaking/prog_cinema.htm Just realize that school will only teach you so much and the degree itself won't get you work. What matters is who you know AND how good your work is. Before you commit to investing any money and time into a film school, research the curriculum to make sure that you will be learning things that you don't already know. Otherwise, the best thing for you to do is to just go out and start working. You will have to start slow on low budget independent projects, but over time, you will meet people and will build your experience and a better reel to show others. Morgan Peline
Are you crazy? Go to VGIK, learn 35mm and then look for work afterwards. Guaranteed you will be a better DP than coming out of some of the US film schools.
Tom Jensen
I've been out of the film loop for a few years but I would suggest that if Prague is still a hot spot for shooting, go there and try to get on a film. You will never learn in film school what you can learn on a set. As a second AC or loader it is pretty easy to get on a film with a master DP in a foreign country because many times those positions will be filled by locals. That is a wise move, but why are you limiting your geographic options , why don't you extend your horizons , Asian film schools are one of the best of its kind .. did you ever hear about Whistling Woods International .. well here is the link ..http://www.whistlingwoods.net/main.asp .. best of luck
