Michael B McGee
From 1/2 soft frost to Lamay, I'm wondering what people like to use for certain situations. ie: diffusing or bouncing various light sources. if there's a link to this topic that's already been discussed i'd appreciate someone sending it to me. thanks in advance, Mike
David Rakoczy
1/4, 1/2 and Full Frost, Silk, Grid Cloth, Shower Curtain etc... are all (in most cases) used for diffusing the Sun, Large Lamps or Hard Reflectors. Microwave, Lamays, Grifflons, Muslin etc... are used for bouncing Hard Sources. ...for the most part...
Daniel Wallens
Muslin, both bleached and unbleached, is also used for diffusing. (in fact, I'd say its used as a diffuser more often than a bounce, depending on the person you talk to).
David Rakoczy
I do as well.. it should have been in both lists.. Muslin is fantastic esp. on Close Ups!

A Microwave is like a Lamay..a large reflecting cloth that comes in Silver, Gold or a Checkerboard (Silver/Gold).. in 6x6, 8x8, 12x12 & 20x20... Thanks David! Is there any difference between the two, or is this a case of multiple terms for the same thing?
