JD Hartman
Need to project a "rain drop" effect onto open umbrellas. No possibility of using sprinklers, rain bars or real water at this location. Equipment available: various Tunsten Fresnels; open face, gobo rotators, color scrollers. Any suggestions?

The gobo rotator is good go for the double gobo rotator. experiment with a couple different gobos. you might even try the glass effects, alternatly you might go even older skool and use a projector/overhead projector with oil on the glass. Bob Hayes
Video tape back lit rain against a black background and then project it on your actors using a video projector. Add a little smoke and some efan action.
carl spring
Video tape back lit rain against a black background and then project it on your actors using a video projector. Add a little smoke and some efan action. That's an inspiring technique Bob :) . Has anyone ever tried it like this or similar? any examples of work (your own or others) would be cool. gotta love to learn. could look quite cool (a bit 'in cold blood' esq if the rain is filmed maybe through some glass?) could be very nice. I may very well have to try that in a week or so (if it rains. sunny here at the moment). I will post my findings ciao for now Carl
