Bent Aaton XTR Prod rod mounts?

Hi,

can anyone tell me how the rod mounts on the XTR Prod can be bent?

Did the camera get dropped at some point or someone ran into something?

They are not 100% parallel to the lens but slightly bent to one side (still parallel to each other).

Not a problem with short lenses, but will be a problem with zooms (and might be a problem with a FF, as the gears will engage into each other at a slight angle).

Any idea how to fix this (besides changing the whole front part)?

Should I risk trying to slowly bend it back? What material is this, can it rupture from fatigue?

Will the mount or FFD be affected by this or is this part of the case isolated from anything FFD related?

Thanks,

Marc

There are lots of ways rods can get bent but when it happens it might be better just to get new rods for the Aaton.

I think he's talking about the actual Mount on the camera, not the Rods themselves.

Ahh I believe you are right. My mistake for mis-reading. In that case, send the camera to a camera tech, get it repaired properly and backed up by them (e.g. fix it and it's still screwed and they fix it again!)

I'd bet a bad bump for the bend, without seeing it etc.
