Super16 - 35mm 2Perf look alike cropping

has anyone an idea how to get something like a 35mm technoscope look like from a super16 camera? Even something less than 2perf, lets say in between 16:9 and 2perf 35.

Isn't Techniscope 2 perf 35mm???

I can only guess what you want to achieve: A 1:2,35 aspect ratio from a S16 frame. So you can shoot spherical and crop it OR use a anamorphic lens with a 1:1,33 squeeze. Vantage film has recently come up with such special lenses but they should be hard to come by at your rental house.

So long as you don't mind an increase in grain, it is probably simplest to crop to 2.40 in post. Of course, you'd need to mark your groundglass for framing and the like before hand.

2 perf with the sides cropped to 16:9 is almost the same size as S16 so there wouldn't be much difference

The two perf aperture is 0.980" x 0.373". Super 16 is 0.493" x 0.292". To get the same aspect ratio from S-16, you'd only be able to use a tad over .2" of the height, so you're at about a quarter of the area of 2 perf, and not saving money.
