Brian Drysdale Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Just tried to look at RedUser and was stopped by my computer with a warning that this was an attack page. I guess something must be going on there other than just the noise ratio.

Premium Member Keith Walters Posted August 15, 2010 Premium Member Posted August 15, 2010 Jason Ramsey thinks he has fixed the problem & asked google to reevaluate the site, it could take a few days. I was able to log onto Reduser a couple of hour ago with no trouble, but now I'm getting the same message. However the answer appears to be straightforward: "Malicious software includes 12 trojan(s). Successful infection resulted in an average of 4 new process(es) on the target machine. Malicious software is hosted on 1 domain(s), including imgeshacks.com/. This site was hosted on 1 network(s) including AS23352 (SERVERCENTRAL)." Notice the offending site is called "imgeshacks.com" "HTTP://Imageshack.us" is a very popular and completely legitimate picture hosting site that allows you to hot-link the images you store there, so that for example you can make your pictures automatically appear in on-line postings without needing to click on anything. It looks like imgeshacks.com has been set up as a soundalike site that appears to do something like what the real ImageShack does, plus either installing malicious software, or somehow adding it to the pictures that people store there. Bit of a bummer really, since ImageShack is a very handy site. Unlike most others, it doesn't require you to start an account to use it, so you can upload your pictures with only a few mouse clicks, for free. It would be a shame if Imageshack hotlinks got blocked from forums over this incident.
