camera for my short?

Recommended Posts

im shooting a short that i had helped write and need advice. i can shoot on a dslr and get the 35mm dof but my camera is moving a lot and i don't want it to look like jello. i also have access to a Sony HDR FX1 and a bunch of PL mount lenses from school. is there an adapter i can use for that camera to use pl lenses?

Also consider a Panasonic GH1 or, if you can get one, a GH2 (they're either imminent or just less than imminent). There are adapters to mount your PL lenses, which is easier on the micro4/3 mount because of its different optical geometry to the EF(S) mount that Canon use. The Panasonic cameras have much better aliasing performance and reduced rolling-shutter artifacts, although you should take their slightly (perhaps insignificantly) smaller sensor size into account when calculating focus and choosing lenses. The only other major problem is that the GH1 produces a monitoring output only when not recording.
