Premium Member Robert Ditto Posted May 30, 2011 Premium Member Posted May 30, 2011 Hello cello Bolex Camera Operaters/Cinematographers. I saw this NCS Revolution Sync Motor on the internet and was wondering if any of you out there had seen or heard of them? Or possibly used one? Any info would be great. Sincerely, Respectfully, Robert M. Ditto
Premium Member Robert Ditto Posted May 30, 2011 Author Premium Member Posted May 30, 2011 Sorry, FELLOW BOLEX OPERATORS. Robert
Site Sponsor Robert Houllahan Posted May 30, 2011 Site Sponsor Posted May 30, 2011 I have a NCS Revolution motor for my Eyemo and have used it in all kinds of environments from hot to cold and it has worked extremely reliably. Dom Alt (owner of NCS) is a great guy to work with an stands behind his product. Highly recommended... Shot with my Nikkor/Eyemo and the NCS motor: -Rob-
Premium Member Oliver Christoph Kochs Posted May 30, 2011 Premium Member Posted May 30, 2011 The Revolution is probably much better than just the Timeflow. With the Timeflow i had problems with the push-rod jumping out of the trigger on both Beaulieu and Bolex. But these units are well made and so I'd give the Revolution-unit a go.
Premium Member Robert Ditto Posted May 30, 2011 Author Premium Member Posted May 30, 2011 Hey, Thanks guys! I am looking for a GOOD reliable motor for my Bolex Cameras, do you know if the Revolution motors support the MM and WM torque motors for the 400ft magazines? Sincerely, Respectfully, Robert M. Ditto
Premium Member Oliver Christoph Kochs Posted May 30, 2011 Premium Member Posted May 30, 2011 Do you know that these NCS motors / units are products for Timelapse? If you need a motor for normal filming you should get a Tobin.
Premium Member Robert Ditto Posted May 31, 2011 Author Premium Member Posted May 31, 2011 Really? On their website they have video that shows it operating from 1fps to 48fps in 1fps increments. In forward and reverse speeds. Have I completely missed something, please help I a beginner and trying to thi.vs right the first time. I have alot of book knowledge, now I am trying to get some real experience. Sincerely, Respectfully, Robert M. Ditto
Chris Millar Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 $995 !!! The price has me snorting cottage cheese out my nostrils - woah... Do you know any electronics and have access to a workshop ? Its just a stepper motor mated to a shaft and some kind of timing chip system... Arduino, stepper driver, stepper motor, drill, cut, program, wire up, fasten, test, reconfigure, retest - done. Steppers are noisy though without much thought going into the design - servo system would be nice, but a little bit more involved
