PJ Harmon Posted July 13, 2011 Share Posted July 13, 2011 I've recently been given some 400 ft rolls of 16mm footage that was shot in Berlin & Dresden in 1937 before they were destroyed in World War 2. The trouble, of course, is that for the past 30 yrs they've been kept in horrible conditions. I'm scared to even attempt to run the film through a projector to see what I've got: the vinegar syndrome has taken a significant toll. I took them into a transfer house here in Brooklyn to get an opinion and was told what I already knew: I would need to have a specialist take a look and see if they were even salvageable. Site Sponsor Robert Houllahan Posted July 13, 2011 Site Sponsor Share Posted July 13, 2011 Take it over to www.cineric.com they do restoration work in NYC and can probably advise you on what to do with it and because of thee subject matter they may also be able to advise you on how to get the restoration funded. Whatever you do don't put it into a projector or even a telecine it needs to be handled correctly, i.e. scanned on a machine which can scan it without damaging it. -Rob- Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
