omar robles
So I have been having issues with veteran DPS who arent willing to colloborate to achieve a common vision. I have decided to find a talented young DP ripe out of film school. My only issue is I dont know where you find these type of DPS. Everyone on this forum seems to be veteran experienced DPS. Any advice would be appreciated. O
Lucas Griego
Just out of curiosity... what does 'aren't willing to collaborate' actually mean?
omar robles
I envisioned a certain look to a particular scene. And he said that it was his decision to make in terms of what the look should be.
Brian Drysdale
I envisioned a certain look to a particular scene. And he said that it was his decision to make in terms of what the look should be. I'd try talking to other experienced DPs, to see if the visions can be matched or at least discuss why your vision may not be practical or perhaps not work in terms of the overall story. Not all DPs are the same, so even your ripe DP from film school may not see it the same as you. Although, your current DP does give the impression of being a dogmatic character, you have to decide if he brings something overall to the film. Stuart Brereton
To be honest, that kind of attitude is usually found in 'student' DPs, because film school allows them the arrogance to override their director's wishes. Once you hit the real world, you realize that doing what you are asked is part of the job.
