Konvas gate conversion

Hello everyone,

 

I have two Konvas 1Ms and many magazines (both regular and large) that I want to convert from standard Konvas gate to a "present day" gate size.

 

Can anyone suggest someone who can do the mod in Europe?

 

I am in Italy.

I found a local machinist to cut my Konvas anamorphic gate to Super 35 size. He did a perfect job, but he said he destroyed six diamond drill bits in the process, and would never do that again. Maybe a local machinist can help you. Good luck!

The magazines don't need modifying at all.

Also the Konvas usually has an academy format gate which means you could just mask the viewfinder for 1.85 as academy 1.85 is also a standard present day format. (technically the Konvas gate size is a present day gate size), It all depends on what you are trying to do really! :)

BTW you will find the "large" magazines are actually the regular ones that take a normal 400ft load.

The small magazines are only 200ft and they use non standard soviet cores which makes them a bit of a pain!

I always wondered why they never made a 1000' mag for the 2m. It would've been ever so helpful-- anything to save one from loading the damned thing even just once.
