Francisco Martins
Instead of converting it to S16 or U16, is there a way to alter the 4:3 gate to make it 2:1?
timHealy
Why would you do that? It's expensive and you would not save any money on film. You can't change a pull down like a 35 mm camera and film. At least I wouldn't think so. I have never heard of a half frame pull down on a 16mm camera. I would leave your camera alone and just frame for 2-1. You could put some sort of mask on your ground glass and you would be ready to go. But that's just me.
Nicholas Kovats
Or you could just shoot UltraPan8 2.8 or 3.1 native spherical formats. Full 16mm width with 1/2 pulldown (8mm frame height). The aspect ratio(s) are 2.8 and 3.1 respectively. The 3.1 variation is wider than Super 16 at 13mm. Here is an example of UP8 2.8 -> and UP8 3.1 ->
