I got it for around $400 and for that price I don't think it can be beat. I'm thinking about picking up their 85, and really holding out for a 50. Anyone have any thoughts on roki glass? So picking up new glass is an event for me, and as impulsive as I am, I have to stop myself from buying a full set. However, I would start on the wide end. It's often much easier to move in closer with a wider lens than it is to back away. I'd hold out for a 50mm and then go to something like their 24mm (i think it is?). For narrative Super-35mm sized work, the 35mm focal length really is a workhorse, so you've got yourself covered there. I would say then, it's much better to go wider from a 35 then longer to an 85. As for zooms. Meh. not a big fan, and for one I'd rather had a set of lenses which'll all be similar than start to match dissimilar lenses together. They have a really unique place in lens market - super affordable, super wide options (8mm, 14mm, 24mm) and one of the greatest advantages is they are geared and de-clicked. Katie Shipsides Posted July 9, 2013 Share Posted July 9, 2013 A Lens Specialist in our Burbank facility tested the 14mm and 35mm on the collimator and projector this morning. He did inform me before he started testing the EF mount lenses in general tend to be less precise then PL mount lenses. He found that the marketing were off on the on both lenses and the 14mm has some play (we would need a larger sampling to determine if it is a one off occurrence or it is a characteristic of the wider Rokinon lenses). However, these lenses could have the shims adjusted to be more accurate but it still wouldn’t be as exact as precise as a PL mount lenses.
