Brian Drysdale
I also think you are spot on with what you said about features being kind of where shorts were a while back. Quite a few features have lower budgets than the shorts I made around 2000, one of these was shot on Super 16 and had 35mm prints, the other was on 35mm. Paying people also added to their budgets.. Freya Black
I'd check out the actors for an indication of the budgets, they're the expensive bit, if they're name actors it's not that cheap, lesser knowns are more likely deferred (i.e. no pay) payments.. At least one multi million dollar feature has been shot with DSLRs. Now you have me wondering! What multi million dollar feature was ever shot entirely on DSLR's??? I would have thought I would have heard about that one! Freya
Brian Drysdale
I double checked "Act of Valour" is a mix of 5D and 35mm film, i remembered the DSLR part and people saying it was all DSLR, but checking it up, film was also in the equation

Kinda cool, I hadn't heard about that all, so interesting to know! :) Freya
