I am doing a shoot next month and wanna know if there are filters that are more flattering on white skin tones. If there are any gels that are complimentary as far as color please let me know! Thanks!

There are cosmetic gels (sort of pale pink I think) that get used in theatrical lighting but they aren't really necessary in filmmaking.

Diffusion filters for the camera work just as well on dark and lighter-toned skin.

I would go for a nice Dior net not just for the women but men also. If you look back over the years when nets were only used on the leading lady and then cut to reverse C.U of man without ! Its just so awful and obvious .

I seem to recall that "cosmetic" gels are often pale pink combined with diffusion, as if that makes much difference when you cut it eight inches square and stick it in the front of a parcan. Just makes it defocussed, not soft, particularly.

There are 7 or 8 different gels in the LEE Cosmetic range. Some are good with skintones, like Peach and Burgundy, others not so much, like Silver Moss and Emerald. They are all fairly pale tints combined with light diffusion. I've never used them, as finding partial rolls is virtually impossible.

For on camera diffusion, I really like the Soft FX Filter series. A nice subtle softening of the image, and very little halation of light sources.

Tiffen make 'Warm' versions of a lot of their diffusion filters, which may be what you are looking for.
