Premium Member Alessandro Machi Posted January 30, 2014 Premium Member Share Posted January 30, 2014 Are these cameras format agnostic in terms of what they record to? What are the recording options? Anybody recording to the Sony professional HD tape formats?
Premium Member Adrian Sierkowski Posted January 30, 2014 Premium Member Share Posted January 30, 2014 SxS cards as far as I know though one could, I suppose, use the SDI out to record to tape if you wanted to. I haven't seen an tape in quite a long time, however.

Premium Member Phil Rhodes Posted January 30, 2014 Premium Member Share Posted January 30, 2014 Also nothing stopping you from plugging it into an external file recorder, if that's what floats your boat. Would hope that all the embedded start/stop commands would work on a high end piece of gear like this. But really, it shoots ProRes which is supported (as a playback format at least) by effectively everything, so I don't see the problem. P
David Fernandes
Hi, I don't think there would be a point in hooking up an external recorder as the premium model shoots12bit ProRes 4444 at up to 200fps and in Rec709 or LogC. You can also 'rent' a license for the 4444/200fps/LogC if you buy the cheaper models. Also nothing stopping you from plugging it into an external file recorder, if that's what floats your boat. David Fernandes
I meant to add that the external HD-SDI is 10bit, uncompressed yes, but you can record 12bit PR4444 internally.
