Premium Member Simon Wyss Posted July 27, 2017 Premium Member Share Posted July 27, 2017 (edited) If you want to spend that much money on features you hardly need . . . Will you shoot synch sound? Do you need 400-foot loads? Do yourself a favour and buy a Paillard-Bolex H younger than 1954, one with the swivel claw drive and the better lateral guidance. Early Reflex models can be found quite cheap. Still more preferable are late spring-drive models with the big base. These make a real good stand on the tripod. The money you save with the camera is best spent on a good tripod. Camera and tripod belong together. Be slower with lenses, start with two or three. Get to know them well. Small, compact, and lightweight prime lenses will help you more than impressive looking zoom tubes. Edited July 27, 2017 by Simon Wyss
Todd Pinder
If you can afford it go for it! Those Switars are the best of them! If its been converted to Super 16, it would be a no brainer! But I do agree with Simon about the 400ft mags, motor, etc. If you plan on shooting reversal films, then Regular 16mm, and a Rex 4 would be my choice!
