Pavan Deep
My workshops are always about film in the present tense. I have just finished teaching a 16mm program; it was very successful, I find that more young people than ever before want to use 16mm. The question that I am being asked [by students] more than ever is ‘what camera they should get’ and as ever I find myself a bit stumped as to which one/s I should recommend. In the photo the students are using a Super 16 Éclair ACL 2 with a Canon DSLR battery attached to the magazine. Pav
Premium Member Dom Jaeger Posted November 9, 2017 Premium Member Share Posted November 9, 2017 If I had to recommend something I think Bolexes (preferably REX 4, 5 or SBM) are great beginner (and beyond) cameras that can be a fantastic introduction to a film based workflow. For dialogue films I think Arri SRs (2, preferably 3) or Aatons are the way to go if you cant get access to a 416. :) I say this because these are the most likely to give decent results buying without a guarantee. But whatever camera you have is the best one to start with!
