Jon O'Brien
Let's say you had some Nikon lenses already and wanted to shoot some digital footage for professional use - maybe what you shoot ends up online for a company website, and gets put on DVDs that they sell. You decide to get hold of a camera body that you can use with your Nikon lenses (the UMP comes with an adapter). What could the Ursa Mini Pro do that, say, the Nikon D500 couldn't? Would there be much difference in the look?
Jon O'Brien
Plus, what's the future of ENG cameras? Which way is it going? Or is that a separate topic?
Premium Member Tyler Purcell Posted February 15, 2019 Premium Member Share Posted February 15, 2019 I mean the D500 is a still camera. Yea it does have some video capabilities, but it's first and foremost a still camera. So it's stuck to 8 bit 4:2:0 Long GOP MPEG capture. Might as well shoot with an iphone and a lens adaptor. SO yea, the look would be entirely different. Plus, you're using the entire imager on the UMP in 4k, where on the D500 you're always cropping the image. ENG cameras aren't going anywhere. In fact, I think we'll see more as time goes on because its such an important market.
Jon O'Brien
Might as well shoot with an iphone and a lens adaptor. Well that's put that in it's place. Thanks for the advice!
