Aaron Martin @ OH Posted September 13, 2020 Posted September 13, 2020 Hi - I just purchased an Arri S that's been sitting for some time. Motor runs, battery belt holds a charge, but this thing definitely needs oiled (not greased - oiled, as per the manual). Is 3-in-One oil OK to use, or should I be looking for something different. Thanks! Aaron

The user-accessible oiling points are only to lubricate the bearings for the sprockets and counters. The movement is a seperate, much more precise assembly that is lubricated with specific greases, a job for a repair tech. If you’re interested to see what the oiling points lubricate, see the pics of the underside of the platine, roughly 12 or 13 pics down in my Arri S blog post: http://cinetinker.blogspot.com/2019/02/arri-16st-service.html 1
Roy Cross Posted March 30, 2025 Posted March 30, 2025 Thank you for the photos, Dom! Do you know of a tech in North America who can lubricate an Arri S? Roy in Montreal, Canada
