Thomas Beach
Hi Folks, I'm trying to avoid purchasing a lens or two that will end up not working with my Eclair NPR and thus become unusable. In particular, I am searching for either a Schneider Xenon 25mm f/0.95 or the Angenieux f/0.95 as well as possibly a Schneider 10mm f/0.95, both in c-mount and guaranteed compatible with the c-mount receiver on the NPR. Can anyone recommend a site or camera facility to reach out to for reliable pre-purchase information? I would be very grateful. Tom
Premium Member Dom Jaeger Posted August 27, 2022 Premium Member Share Posted August 27, 2022 Someone like Visual Products would be good to reach out to. But you could probably work out yourself if a lens is compatible. The only real issue is whether the C mount threads protrude too far into the camera body. I haven’t seen an NPR for over a decade so I don’t recall the C mount depth but you could easily measure how deep the threads go. I don’t recall ever hearing about a Schneider f/0.95 10mm. Some newer high speed C mounts are machine vision lenses that protrude back too far for film cameras. I wouldn’t use this for instance: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/393846218356 But the Angenieux f/0.95 25mm and other versions of that design should be OK: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/265787028501 Are there other issues you are concerned about? Doug Palmer
The Schneider 25mm f0.95 works great on Bolex, it doesn't have that protruding c-mount thread. It even performs well on reflex Bolex, though focusing needs care.
Doug Palmer
I seem to recall the Eclair c-mount receiver is fairly standard like on other 16mm cameras ?
Robert Hart
Slightly off-subject, here is a lens which is not common now but may yield results pleasing to you. It has a limited zoom range so might be best described as a variable prime, rather than a zoom lens. It is not as fast as your preferred Angenieux 0.95. It will fit to and work on a Bolex H16RX5. Used specimens may have gone tight with dried internal lube so may need servicing.https://www.ebay.com/itm/144544646495?hash=item21a788455f:g:bz4AAOSwsAJid9F1&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAA4Ba3n7B0ZTyEnIBIKgNmQ%2F%2BX6dyMavyrHAz%2FXArxyGr03RVk9tUcSu4htQJYE07nDHwSKq6H8cxoHOBpu%2BnteH%2FtJ4AzshXdAH7lLNAJ7Dn9I7fMez4sV4ojOvPmRWXnyhSJZSfUwepuIZ%2B9d1MS%2FLykaiNqrSx1QKzRfr8XXuI%2F5X9bgcTm7ljN5afRaJ97wHA0g5RErud%2FLflPTpGLrhaLXnKelOY1CsC0RjDvXU4S%2FU5tCnjz0Vq5RGpOBgqjUmspErfQqPeqyVk1VrH7JDIzMAGsrSzZc3kLKE%2FhcN%2Bn|tkp%3ABFBMvJb90uVg
