Is the dvx100 24p good for PAL user??? IS there dvx100 PAL with 24p??? Way the dvx 100 has 60i 30p 24p and 24p adv and the pal has only 50i and 25p thanks ram :)
Premium Member David Mullen ASC Posted January 14, 2004 Premium Member Share Posted January 14, 2004 24P and 25P look too similar to make a difference. Any 24 fps material you see on a PAL TV is transferred at 25 fps anyway. PAL is a 25 fps system (50i). The 24P DVX100 records to NTSC (30 fps / 60i). When shooting in 24P, it has to add a 3:2 pulldown to convert everything to 60i. Hence why it offers 24P, 30P, and 60i. If you don't like the look of 25P-to-50i PAL, you aren't going to like 24P-to-60i NTSC any better.
Ram Shani
david thanks for clear that out for me. one more thing i think for t.v. output the "one filed strob" you do in post make look more like film look what do you think. ram :D
Premium Member David Mullen ASC Posted January 14, 2004 Premium Member Share Posted January 14, 2004 If you're saying that the judder from the 3:2 pulldown adds a film-look, that's only true in NTSC countries where we associate pulldown with film transfers. In PAL countries, you don't have pulldown for films being transferred to video so there's no reason why you'd think a pulldown looks more film-like. Premium Member Phil Rhodes Posted January 14, 2004 Premium Member Share Posted January 14, 2004 Hi, No, you'd think that pulldown looks like the juddery, unpleasant kludge that it is! And you'd wince at the sound of a telecine intermittent. Phil
