elvworks
(thanks) Is either the xl2 or dvx100 able to do those smooth slow motion scenes. The ones where they speed up the frame rate, then when they play it back at normal speed, the slow motion looks smooth instead of choppy? Is there a way to get away with that with dv cams? Thanks, Rick
Premium Member Phil Rhodes Posted November 4, 2005 Premium Member Share Posted November 4, 2005 Hi, The absolute best you will do "for real" is 60fps, by sacrificing 50% of your vertical resolution. Shoot 30i NTSC, then bob-deinterlace. Beyond that, get something like Twixtor. Phil
Michael Collier
you could shoot HDV 60i. if your looking to finnish in SD you will still have full resolution and more than 2x slow factor.
Premium Member Peter J DeCrescenzo Posted November 4, 2005 Premium Member Share Posted November 4, 2005 You might find this article by Thomas Worth interesting. It goes into some detail about why 60i can be better for slow motion than 24p: http://rarevision.com/articles/slow_motion.php All the best, - Peter DeCrescenzo

David Silverstein
That article was very good and helpful thanks for the link :D. Does anyone know if you can just shoot in 60i and use magic bullet to take it to 24p and then it will look as good as all the steps he did without using JUST after effects.
