  1. Hey does any one know if these projectors have multiple frame rates like 18fps and 24fps or a vari speed control thanks. I was also wondering if any body has taken a video camera and filmed the image off the wall. Does it have a flicker?
  2. I think the fx1e is in the same group as the fx1. But if you have a higher serial or later model they might have fixed any problems. The fx1 I had was like the 1021'st made. My Z1u is like 9070'th made.
  3. Okay this is where I get the cheapest My main provider Tri-X $13.95 Plus-X $13.95 200T $18.95 Ektachrome 64T $17.50 http://www.bhphotovideo.com Recently found out these people sell film Ektachrome 64T $13.99 http://www.k14movies.com Can anyone beat these prices or know where you can get it cheaper I would like to know. Any one know where I can buy 500T for S8?
  4. I think CineLabs does some sort of cross proccessing for 16mm but you would have to ask them. http://www.cinelab.com
  5. No the Sony was a bit quick releasing the FX1 and it had problems with maintaing motion stability around curves or outlines in the image. It was also a bit more grainy when it came to blacks. The Z1U doesn't have those problems cause it came out a bit later and sony took the time to fix any bugs that were in existence. The FX1 was essentially sony's prototype and the Z1U a finished product.
  6. The reason I asked about the cost is cause when it comes to a smart or stupid move cost is always a factor. But yeah don't ruin the guys bargan. Good luck with that thing.
  7. Okay I go the links here they are UK http://www.widescreen-centre.co.uk/ Germany http://www.andecfilm.de/ I don't know. http://www.super8filmlab.demon.nl/diyprint.htm
  8. Here a link to a lab that I think does cross processing. http://www.niagaracustomlab.com/prices.htm#s8
  9. The Z1u does have lower light perfomrance than the DVX100. The Z1u is 2 lux allthough some people say its three and the DVX100 is 3 lux. But the DVX100 has grainer pictures at 3 lux than the Z1U. Plus the Z1u is a native widescreen camera. The DVX100 is not.
  10. Yes, but they are all in europe. The widescreencenter in the UK, and there is a place in germany and dutchland to. I would google it but Ill post back in a bit with the sites if I can find them again. Google search super 8 contact prints
  11. How much did u pay for that ECN_II thing?
  12. I think super 8 has pretty good stability. I've done DV prints out to super 8 and the frame rate and picture speed stays the same at 24fps as it does on the computer. Like the guy said before A lot of the cameras are old, heavily used and haven't been serviced in a long time. So they might be a little shaky performance wise.
  13. How long is your feature. Cause the last time I looked at a blow up price that was done by a lab it was $350 a minute to 35mm. Yet I think the place was a bit pricy.
  14. Heres what I got PD-170 ASA 300 HVR-Z1U ASA 160 HDR-FX1 ASA 180 Compareing the Z1u to the FX1 the Z1u has better picture quality with less noise. But comparing some of the cameras ASA's can be troublesome cause of the different sizes in lenses and lighting and stuff. I do two tests usually one in the day time and one at 5 lux at night.
  15. The HVR-Z1u its got better picture and performance than the 100B. But the reason's to go highdef shouldn't be because of framerates. It should be because you want enhanced widescreen picutres with stunning color and quality. But if you looking at the 100b and SD cameras take a look at the Sony DSR-PD170. I chose that over AG-DVX-100 because it had better picture quality and could film in a lot lower light.
  16. Well the pixel ratio for filming is 1440x1080 = 16:9. ANd as far as color it doens't lose anything in recording onto tape or exporting a recording directly through the fire wire to a computer. As for the HD out put you can do it throught the firewire jack or go through the Composite video, regular video and S video jacks on the camera to the and get true HD. When you ask if it is a true HD format you are asking a question with many angels. SD is 720x480= 4:3 and is a square. There are several HD formats, 1280x720p=16:9 and 1440x1080i=16:9 and 1920x1080i=cinemascope and there are a bunch of other HD fromats with progressive and interlaced formats. True HD is anything bigger than SD that is in a widescreen format with more colors than were availabe with SD formats. Yes HDV is a true format with great colors that doesn't compromise picture quality in any way shape or form. The reason your saying it not a true HD format from my figuring is because its not the largest one out there, but yet HD formats have yet to be standardized to a fixed ratio yet and are relativley new. The HVR-Z1U is a great camera and if you ever get the chance to get on and can afford it go for it.
  17. Yeah what you shoot for a format and how you plan to edit it and what you plan to use for the final format always requires thought. And sometimes can present a real challange. Especially trying to get it all to flow smoothly from one to the other. See if they can transfer your film to PAL if they can't do it to 24p. The frame rate will transfer over better from 25 to 24 versus 30 to 24.
  18. Alright I droped off a cartridge of E-6 at walmart and filled out special instructions to send tro dwanes. Ill see if I can get it to their with out getting the we don't process ektachtrome info slip.
  19. So did u edit this before with the raw film or do it with the transfered footage?
  20. 1. Mac>PC 2. I have never really cared for fuji film in any format. Its just pretty bad when compared to kodak. But the only reason I like kodakchrome 40 is because I could by a cartridge for $12 and get it processed for $5. I have yet to get back some 64T but hope that it better like kodak says. But yeah Kodak actually puts money and time into making and developing their film stocks. They have released a bunch of new films for S8 over the past couple years and actually care. Plus they have a greater range in types of film and exposures for motion picture. 3. Why is the link to a japaness web site? Could you give me one for english?
  21. All right did it, now its a really, really faint image. I'll do it again and it should probably all be gone. Thanks.
  22. Alright I have been doing some various aged film. From new to 25+ years old. I did some refriged 3 years beyond the date old ektachrome and it came very runny in the reds. My suggestion is to find some newer stock seriously.
  23. Okay I shot of a roll of kodachrome 40 that was supposed to be proccess before 10/1980. I did a computer to film print like I do normally and sent the roll of to be processed. Well I new that it would probably come back horrible looking due to age and it came back a nightmare. It came back a very pale pink and purple and is very transparent. Probably would have done better if it had been processed as a B&W. So for those of you out there looking in to buy old stocks dont buy them, there losey. In my experience anthing thats three years beyond the experation date is just bad. So buyer beware. What I was wondering is can I bleach the processed film to make it transparent, completely blank. I'm just going to make it into some leader is all.
  24. I keep my film tech personally in the 1970-1980's model wise. I would just like to post the correct web address for fuji film. http://www.fujifilm.com/ As far as the price of oil products, oil has gone up to $70 dollars a barrel. Gas in my area M.A. is $3 a gallon and out in california its hit $4+. For M.A. its expected to hit $4-5 this summer and a few months ago it was only $2 gallon. If anything blame the raw materials people. A small increase in 3-5% for motions picture film for the first time in a couple years with the cost rise in raw materails and stuff, Kodak is kind of doing us a favor by not raising it even more. Still sucks though but hey what ya going to do.
