  2. Hi Warwick, My accountant was the first person I ask and the answer was: " just $5 for water that's the all you need" .... Then I remember why i just visit this guy two times in a year, only for make my bills jajaja  . Then I ask to some colleagues and we agree if someone is in a foreign country you must have the economic freedom to be able to walk and work calm. That at least means to have covers the meals of the day and certain additional expenses. Years ago I direct and produce some TV shows (international beaches in the caribbean) and I remember as a producer at the end of the day several times I ( as producer ) invite the beers obviously just one round... I almost 30's and never felt I can trust in my government . I'm on my own...
  3. Great stuff, just a little long... As David say i like what you did with the drugs effects, great !!!
  4. Thank you John you clarify this point... And Phil perhaps it looks like "big hollywood movie things" yeah perhaps you're right..., but I always know when someone live his country for business you receive an extra money for your expenses... Anyway thank you for your replies it was a valuable contribution Xavier
  5. Why you don't transfer the info via firewire directly from the HVX200 ???, just connect the hvx to your computer (via firewire) i guess mac. Then turn on your camera. Then search the Mode Button (in the back) keep press this button about 4 seg until the PC lamp turn ON, the wait about 5 seconds. In your desktop appear like Hard disc your P2 "info" then you can drag it into your Hard disc and create a copy. You can review your footage at final cut but first you have to import your files or if you want you can see it at your P2CMS... When your files are copy drag the HVX "disc" to the trash before you turn off your HVX Hope helps you Xavier
  6. Just for curiosity, what it is a shoot fixer? Xavier
  7. It looks like they light only the background avoiding the glass. Tha glass "appears lighting" because it is transparent. I don't see any reflection on the glass and look how the edge of the glass is dark... I don't think they use direct light on the glass but perhaps using bouncing lateral light avoid reflective light... BTW Rémy Martin great Cognac ;) Xavier This link perhaps help you http://www.arri.com/infodown/light/broch/a...ook_english.pdf
  8. Thank you Allen, Daniel and John you clarify me a lot of questions... I never heard about Per-Diem i understand what it means but are there any percentage (based on your day rate) to know what it could be a normal Per-Diem ??? Once again Thank you guys Xavier
  9. Thank you Allen, Daniel and John you clarify me a lot of questions... I never heard about Per-Diem i understand what it means but are there any percentage (based on your day rate) to know what it could be a normal Per-Diem ??? Once again Thank you guys Xavier
  10. Thanks Allen you're right i have to talk with the producer about that details. Unfortunately i can't do it for free i love travel but i have enough work in my country and leaving could be the worst decision... Just one thing I'm still doing the same question; Do you think I have to keep the same day rate filming out of my country...??? Something in my mind tell me NO, perhaps i am wrong... Xavier
  11. Hey Matt You don't know how you surprise me i never expect this video could be a bachata video sorry but i hate how this guys sing the bachata jajaja... I know this forum is about cinematography but i should have mentioned it... The video looks great but the song blow all the inspirations as a viewer ... i guess for bachata fans the video looks great... The only thing didn't like it was the flashback, old fashion film scratch, don't like it... But that's a little comment... Good Luck
  12. Hi there I have had to travel for work in some occasion but under a pay (month), this my first time like freelance...It seems my next project could be a ride in others countries i think three different countries and i have a few doubts what it could be my rate... My first question is do i have to charge any additional percentage to my normal rate because i have to work out of my country? My second question is i don't know where but i heard when you travel to work to other countries you have to charge to your rate your travels days this time i think it could be a 7 hours flight (each way)... is this true? Thank you Xavier
  13. Hi Rich You're right I was browsing too I guess 2 years ago and founded http://www.efplighting.com/ before they start charging the membership, it was a great educational non profit website, looks great, lots info but as you said they have more basics set ups interviews studio/outdoor, packshots, basic lightning. They have more Tv lighting than motion pictures or series. This year I was tempted to become a member on www.digitalcinemasociety.org because as you said i found this great trailer and search in this website looks they have values info more professional motion picture..., but then I felt the commitment with this great site (cinematography.com), i think as soon as posible i want to become member (Sustaining Member )... As someone say long life to cinematography.com  Xavier

  16. Hi guys, today I found a great news at Arri website, it looks like Arri decide redesign his workhorses lights. They create the Arri True Blue, it seems like they try to recreate this lights. I don't know how much it cost this new recreation, but the lights have great improvements especially reducing the heat and the new "stegmaier connector". Enjoy Xavier Plaza http://www.arri.com/entry/new_pro.htm
  17. Hi Chris What are you shooting, INT, EXT, day, night, people, landscape, etc...???
  18. Thank you guys great info and links Xavier
  19. Hi Sofía Well there are several film schools in south america. In argentina you could find Instituto Nacional de Cine "ENERC" http://www.enerc.gov.ar/ , FUC (fundación universidad del cine) http://www.ucine.edu.ar/ . I know there are others film schools in other cities like Cordoba, Rosario.
  20. Onno Thanks for that info and great crane... Xavier
  21. That was what exactly happen to me on the last project... I was helping a lot on the production (especially the P.A.) because they have amateur people. I spoke with the production team and gave it specific task because i wanna help this guys because nobody knew that to do. Then I began to felt like the director give me "orders" because he thought I was his assistant... Then I see my BIG mistake "help the production" so I return to my position and specify my role... After that you see how the director have to go out the Air conditioner and still on the warm set, running all over the place and directing his team... ;) Xavier
  22. Well I think the personality of each one influences one each work especially on set. I have to work with both good and awful guys... I remember when DP/Director who kick, screaming and manage the people with fear obviously hiding behind this image of "strict guy", what a dumass... I always feel shame for this people who don't have emotional intelligence, because when you leave the set that kind of behavior still with you. I believe when you're in set it have to be a great energy, mood and collaboration like a fellowship because that's what it's and the major thing is everyone work with creativity and inspirational things, ok perhaps some works better than others with stress... yeah perhaps, but in general terms a good ambiance could bring peaceful, great things and a terrific day... 23. Hi Leon, good work, just a few observations, i like the blue color on interiors and in the club but i felt like is too blue for me. Did you use kino flo (blue croma) ???. Anyway it could have helped you using in the back ND 6 or 9 (car interior) an see some street ... Jose Jose as "the boss" great awesome !! I like how you present it in the trailer i love that shot... when the girl is coming out form the bathroom like it too... Well good luck :D Xavier
  24. Thanks Tim and Valerio, now I remember years ago I saw on the same panavision web this light but i forgot the name anyway thanks for clarify your point... Xavier
