  1. I've only found 100D under the name Cine Chrome in double 8 form. There's no indication on the film can who makes it. I'll see if I can find out.
  2. I purchased what is called "Cine Chrome 100D". It is a 25 ft. double 8 reel for my Bolex P4. Unfortunately, I have no idea who manufactures it.
  3. Okay, so what would you recommend for 100D?
  4. Both the K40 and 64T data sheets call for filtering in daylight. It seems to me that both films are moderately slow, so I am rather puzzled (especially with K40). Could someone please clarify this? Thanks.
  5. I just purchased some regular double 8 100D at Action Camera in S.F. http://www.actioncamerasf.com/
  6. I released the lever, but was nervous about pulling on anything. I'll have another look. Thanks for the help and contact info, too.

    Bolex P4

Hello, I just received a nearly new Bolex P4. The manual says to remove the pressure-pad (with fingers, no tools)for cleaning. I can only see the backing-plate that closes in on the film. I'm not sure what I'm looking for. I don't see anything removable (without serious disassembly). Could someone clarify this for me? Thank you.
  8. Thanks to everyone for the help. I really appreciate it.
  9. That's great !!! Much appreciated...Thank you.
  10. Hello again, I found this quote on another site: "Virtually any 16mm film stock can be used with the Double Super 8 system..." Is this true? Thanks.
  11. Where can I find a good source for Double 8 film stock?
  12. Hello, In the HD world we have HD Expo. In the broadcast world we have the NAB show. I was wondering if there are any similar conferences or shows dedicated to motion picture film and equipment technologies.
  13. I think the subject has shifted from the original intent. However... Allen Daviau was once quoted as saying, "I?ve been shooting Hi-Def for over thirty years. It?s called film.? I have an HVX200. What an awesome camera...gotta' love its variable frame-rates! I don't think anyone would argue that point. Can I acheive an end result that looks like film? Certainly. Will I still use film? Of course. I believe one can take advantage of what either format has to offer. What is it we are trying to achieve in our creative endeavor, anyway?
  14. Hello, I would like to post quicktime footage to the web without embedding it into a web page. In other words, if I post a link (on a forum for example) for viewing a qt file, I would like the qt window to come up alone. How is this done? Thanks.
  15. I was viewing "The Making of Pirates of the Carribean: Curse of the Black Pearl" and noticed a numeric digital display flashing on the back of a Panavision camera matte box. I couldn't quite get fix on the specific numbers to see what they meant. Anyone know what the display is used for?
  16. I have the latest demo version of Edius Pro. When I render a clip selection, the program terminates, and I end up back at the desktop. If I select "render and add to timeline", then the process seems to complete and the rendered clip (copy) is added to the next video track (less audio). I can certainly work around this by placing the audio with the rendered clip. However, it's not the ideal solution. Any ideas why I'm getting kicked out when doing a normal render?

  18. Without having 24P, there isn't much you can do other than in post, which in my opinion still looks like video (being forced to look like film). I finally purchased the Panasonic HVX200.
  19. Hey folks, Will H.264 work with Premier Pro 1.5?
  20. Thanks folks for your great responses!
  21. Okay. I do find the grainy look appealing. What about S8 transfer to SD for braodcast? Any issues? Also, what can you say about the learning curve of S8 vs 16mm? Thanks again.
  22. Hello, I am currently into HD, as I have the AG-HVX200. However, I want to do film. I?ve been looking into this for a few months. I really like the appearance of Super 8, it seems a little less expensive, and it looks like a good learning tool. However, 16mm certainly has its appeal, some cameras are in my price range, but I?m not sure if it?s the way to start. Thanks.
  23. This is very interesting. Another area where film is superior. Is there an ND filter that would work? I have an 82mm thread. Thanks much.
  24. Hello, What is recommended when videotaping the sun (sunset for example) to protect the ccd imagers? Thanks.
