  1. Hi Wade, We met last year at the Rachamankha in CM. Spotted you on here and thought id drop a post. Checked out your film and thought it was most definitely beautifully shot and held elements of attention disposition but would probably agree with some of the other comments on the acting. The Actors all had the right physical characteristics but thought they may not have fully understood the script, which may have let it down a touch. May i ask you about the production costs in BK? I looked at 35mm Camera hire while i was there but they were fairly scarce. Any other works you would like to share? Wes.
  2. I still havent seen an official website for Ron Fricke?? And as for the comment on dealing with natural light as if dealing with natural light is easy! Studio work is controlled and if time permits one can produce a nice image. Landscape cinematography is much more challenging given the unpredictability of light and other issues. Not only that, Ron has been building his own cameras to compensate for this issue and many others. One of the greatest cinematographers in my view still stands! If you havent seen his work, look it up, hire it, buy it w/e just see it!
  3. Loved the shots! Very beautiful but thought a relative audio track would enhance it even more, no?? Pro work, like to see more, cheers, joe.
  4. Nice! Looks just like a bought one! What did you shoot on?
  5. Hi Andrew, I really liked some of your shots. I think you need more landscape shots to show us where you were and less of the boys on the reel. The images were crisp and sharp. What were you shooting on? Looks like you were in southern China? More shots of everyday indigenous tribes doing their stuff and a couple more details would have been nice also. I spend alot of time in SE Asia also taking Video and stills of the tribes on the Myanmar border etc... great stuff and they're perfect to shoot but it can be very intrusive. I take it your a Baraka fan also? One last thing, i probably would have used a track that suited the shots a little more like chillout Asian...w/e Anyway would love to see more. Cheers, Joe.
  6. Hi Sam, Took a look at your reel and really like the clip of the guy walking through the street with the hood on. Would love to know if you actually shot that image on board or whether you pulled it down and layer'd it in post?? Looks like it could be film but suspect its digital? More info would be great. Were you allowed to use Air for the soundtrack? Cheers, Joe.
  7. Nope you should be sorted once you read the manual and put it to memory. Worst thing you could do is not know the full potential of the camera your using and what its functions actually do. Sorry for pointing out the obvious.
  8. So have people forgotten about Ron Fricke and "Baraka"?
  9. To answer the initial question NO there is no other way you can speed up the process of becoming a good operator/photographer etc... Practice makes perfect.
  10. Hi all! Would just like to post a question about one of the greatest Cinematorgaphers of the modern era Ron Fricke. Im trying to find the "official website" not just one that claims it to be official so i can study his work. Not only that i cant even find a real website for Baraka??? Whats going on? Am i going nuts or what? Can anyone help? Joe.
  11. Hi people, Just have a question, ive searched everywhere for the official website of one of our best cinematographers of all time Ron Fricke and i cant find one??? Also i cant find an official website for Baraka? Whats going on? Am i going nuts or what?
  12. Good Clip! Not much of a storyline but the images themselves are great for a little XL1! And i liked the song too, Well done!
  13. You can be a camera lady just the same as a camera man, experience. Your very young and it'll take alot of time before people will trust you with a decent size budget, however to gain experience whilst at school why not start out in Audio Visual industry as a casual trainee tech as i did. Its a good insight into how things work and anyone who is not working in Film due to lack of jobs, as there is here in melbourne australia at the moment, are all working in AV. Meeting other people with the same desires helps also. Good luck!
