  1. RGB didn?t have a very good web site. <_< Any idea of how I could contact them?
  2. so, ARRI II or 2M. ;) How much are these pl mounts for the konvas? Now that I think about it. I could get a pretty nice 2M setup for the price of an Arri II with a pl mount.
  3. I am looking for a good MOS camera. I am considering an Arri II or one of these 2m?s. I know I can convert the Arri to a PL but the 2m is somewhat cheaper. :) Would it be possible to convert the 2m Konvas mount to PL mount? If so, does anyone know of where you can have this done? If this cannot be done, then how good is the Russian glass that is available?
  4. take a look at this. http://www.theasc.com/clubhouse/tricks/tip-cc1.htm
  5. Thanks for the help :) Ok I got one more. <_< How should I go about getting this small amount of film processed? Seeing as how it has to be processed and printed like movie film.
  6. This may be stupid but it just came to me and I thought I would ask about it. I know you can buy bulk 35mm film to load yourself into cartridges for your still camera. My question is could I do this with movie film to do test?s that more accurately tell me how the actual film stock would react to different lighting? So pretty much this: can I load movie film into cartridges for my 35mm SLR to do tests? Or will normal film of the same ASA yield the same results?
  7. You are more likely to own an MOS camera than a sync camera. There are some good MOS cameras you can get in that price range. Arri III, 2c, and 235 can all be had for fewer than fifty thousand. The only problem is that you also need accessories and parts for the camera to be usable, mags and lenses are just some of the things you will obviously need. But really owning an MOS camera or any other camera is really a dissension that should be made biased on how much you will use it and if it will pay for itself at any time in the near future. You have to find a way to justify spending that kind of money. Just stick to renting until there is enough work or you feel it is the right time to invest in a camera. I wrote this and then saw that you said $50 to $1000. I thought you said $1000 to $50000. <_< I don?t think buying a $1000 dollar 35mm camera is a good idea. -Zach-
  8. :D just pay someone to smuggle it across the boarder. Just dont get caught because then you would be a terrorist.
  9. I didn?t think that you could get a 1000' mag for the 435 at all. But now that you mention it the Arricam mag does look a little different. Are the 1000ft mags used alot? You don?t really need that much film for an MOS camera do you? Unless it is at really high speed. It seems that you usually see 400? mags. hmm..
  10. I didn?t think they existed but then I saw this. http://homepage.ntlworld.com/bas/extreme[1].jpg Unless I?m mistaken that?s an Arricam 1000? mag on an Arri 435 extreme. ;) Just something weird I found online. Thanks Ashley
  11. thanx Mr. Pytlak so is scene to scene more expensive?
  12. wow, good to see another kansan so did you go to KU? where are you going to shoot? sorry its a bit of topic :) i see you are on mass street.
  13. you could probably also find alot online about it.
  14. What do these telecine terms mean? <_< One light Best light Scene to scene I know it has something to do with color correction. Thanks for all the help in advanced. :) -Zach-
  15. Check out the special features in the extended cut of the film. You will see that they digitally color graded the film.
  16. I think video should be called video and film be called film. It just makes sense to call it what it is. Film is obviously different in a lot of ways from video. So to say you have shot a film when you have shot on video just isn?t right. ;) Film is an experience all its own and to say that you made a ?film? that you shot on video does not mean you have the ability to shoot real film. It?s just a label but there is a reason that they say short film instead of short video. It just sounds more professional whether you are a professional or not. Anyone can make a video but not everyone can make a film. That?s just my thoughts but then again I am a film kind of guy. :)
  17. http://www.pro8mm.com/ in Burbank rents the a-cam for $325 per day or $250 per day with the purchase of a film/telecine discount package.
  18. Has anyone mentioned using a neutral density filter to get this look? It will have somewhat the same affect as the polarizer but you will be able to move with it.

    dumb Film question

HI, When loading a daylight spool you can get away with loading in subdued light. Even if the film does get exposed it will only expose the first few feet. It would probably be wise though if you want to conserve film to load in total darkness when possible. -Zach
  20. I don?t see the need to set the ASA on the camera unless it is for an internal spot meter. ;) Is that what you are talking about?
