  1. I'm pretty good! Sold a movie to Fox, signed to a new ad production company (Biscuit Filmworks) Hows you?
  2. Hey I am reluctantly selling my set of Lomo anamorphic lenses. 35mm 1:2. 50mm 1:2 75mm 1:2 100mm 1:2.8 I had them converted to PL mount when I bought them, then serviced at Focus Optics Markings are metric but there's taped imperial markings from the rental house where they were stored. They are in very good condition with no fungus and are optically in great order. I purchased these lenses soon after shooting this https://vimeo.com/26900959 Note: this was shot on my friend's lomos. I loved the look so much that convinced me to purchase a set myself. I used these lomos for element shoots for vfx on my feature The Last Days on Mars. They've been in storage most of the time I've owned them so not had the opportunity to use them as much as I would have liked. They are great lenses and I don't really want to part with them but ya know how it is... Pelican case included. $44k USD OBO Based in Los Angeles pm for more info http://i.imgur.com/8TxPhEl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/UWAOVev.jpg http://i.imgur.com/4OcZFry.jpg http://i.imgur.com/pMm3IRe.jpg http://i.imgur.com/w4mWoOX.jpg
  3. Agree Compositions are very strong in this movie. Score is one of the greatest of all time. Story is great. It's a little cheesy but I love that about it too. It's probably the best "bad" movie of all time. R.
  4. Don't think Alexa has anamorphic support enabled yet. R.
  5. Costs so much to market movies now, that making more movies for less per movie doesn't make sense under the studio business model. This is because movies have become dependent on opening weekend. Which means big marketing spend.
  6. I understand Alexa doesn't yet properly support anamorphic lenses. R.
  7. Why never? Because you can't write a good feature, or because what you want to do is something you don't feel is salable?
  8. Yes, actually, working 18 hours a day for six months, with no breaks, sitting down, is pretty physically destructive. This is not a 9 to 5 job like working in a bank, where people just do the job and forget about it in evenings and weekends. Since there is no VFX union, getting a credit on screen is one of the few carrots they can dangle to talented artists, to make them work in what is pretty much a sweatshop. You appear to have no idea what VFX people do, therefore, you are wrongly assuming they get away with... whatever it is you think they are getting away with. CafeFX, one of the major vfx companies that worked on Alice, is closing its doors because effects companies don't make much money. Sparks get credited. Musicians should be credited if they are not. By far the largest list of uncredited workers on the movie you mentioned is for people working on VFX. Go ahead, check on imdb. R.
  9. You are comparing "mac monkeys" to runners, like there is any comparison whatsoever to the level of skill and talent it takes to do one job vs the other.
  10. Wow, you are arguing people that bust their asses working insane hours for months and months on a movie should not get credit. Nice.
  11. Hey - wondering where people thought was the best place to get PL mount conversions done. Where is cheapest, who does the best job. I guess the lenses need focus gears too. picking 'em up in europe (norway) but I live in LA Lenses are 35,50, 75 and 100mm round front anamorphic Thoughts appreciated (and how much should I be expected to pay?) Best, R.
  12. Yeah, screw the guy that started the thread. Sell to meeeeeee instead.
  13. PM me if you have one or know where I can find one! Best, R.
  14. "i'm just laying out the current scenario and asking for thoughts..." "when you dont have all the facts, reserve your judgment" I assume you are familiar with the phrase "Cognitive dissonance". Perhaps you could word your posts better to avoid confusion and wasted time in the future, as I can only judge based on the information you have provided. Do you want people's opinions or not? Or do you just want people to respond that agree with you, and tell you how wonderful you are? Oh that stupid director idiot, how dare he change the color of the wall in the background of a shot in a film he's directing if doesn't know how to a computer or use DaVinci Resolve? He's obviously unqualified to work with actors, or decide on the color of walls! That more like it? And how dare he do a "slight re-edit!" He must think he's the director or something... oh... wait. R.
