  1. Greenscreen? Or maybe something like twixtor pro and motion vectors? Never tryed either myself... just a thought.
  2. I agree, it almost looks like it was shot on video.
  3. good observation, however, i hardly noticed it with the out of focous background.
  4. I see what you mean. Problem is, i have a total of 6ft of track. Its such a simple setup though that I thint think that problem will happen. Thanks for the tips tho ;-).
  5. Not sure why, but that one of the cat is so cool!
  6. Me and a few friends have started a little webshow about biking, skiing and snowboarding. Here is the full info thread Life on Wheels and Boards Episode1: West Shore I'm editing the second episode right now, so it will be up in a few hours. Thanks, Dory
  7. We were bored, I had just downloaded the muzzleplug deom, and my brother wanted to shoot things. Shot in about 15 minutes, VFX done in about 30 (thats why there so shabby) and all I did for audio was throw some sounds in for the gunfire and folly. I did a little color correction to give it the blue tone. One Man(boy)Gunfight
  8. Lol i was gonna say, in the extras they show them pimping Panavisions on the beach... haha funny tho.
  9. And the goods: Dolly Cablecam DollyPic1 DollyPic2 DollyPic2 Let me knwo what yall think.
  10. Got you. Thanks for pointing that out, I'll remember that when I get my next camera. Do keep in mind tho, its native resolution is only 720P. What other cams did you test it against? Just out of curiosity(SP???). Thanks, Dory
  11. If you arnt stuck on thi film idea and your budget would allow it, look into renting a RED One. I know I know, its a new system, still under development, its not film, BUT, it doesnt have grain, it shoots at a 4K resolution (wich wont work if you need to overcrank over 30fps, atleast at the moment), you dont need to process the film, and it comes with a industry standard PL mount. Just a thought... I think there is a rental house in LA that has one.
  12. Hy guys, just thought I'd show you the prototype dolly I made tonight. It started out as a quick fix for a shot I want in a shoot tomorrow, and it ended up inspiring me to make a better one out of PVC. The dolly itself is tiney, maybe a foot long and 4 inches wide. The track is two six foot pieces of copper plumbing pipe. The "wheels" are jsut some thick felt placed right on the dolly. Belive it or not, it works verry well! I am not worried about getting the shot anymore :D !! It still needs a few tweeks, but i am happy with it. Plus, i payed exactly 0 dollars and 0 cents for it. That is something all budget filmmakers love:D! I'll get soem footage up tomorrow.
  13. Wow, jsut the footage from that news clip made me not want to see it. It looked like a good idea, but poorly exicuted.
  14. You have a good point. On the subject of the HVX being "softer," all the HVX footage I have ever worked with has been super super clear and crisp. Are you sure your not jsut hinking of the 1080 blowup it does? Thanks, Dory
  15. This is not true. I have been searching for 4 years constantly for a plugin that will re-produce the look of overcranked footage. The simple awnser is, there isnt one. The complex awnser is, there are many plugins and programs that will allow you to acheive verry good looking time remaping, but none of these do it without some quality loss. Granted, with HD it wont be as noticable as SD, but you will still see it. As of now, in the sub $6-$7K range the only two ways I have found to get good or perfect slow motion from any type of non-film camera is: Using Adobe After Effects' (version 7 or later) Pixlemotion with footage that has ben shot at atleast 1/120ths shutter. This actually does look verry nice, as it litterly re-creats frames that arnt really there. BUT, and this is a big but, it does reduce the quality, and if there is alot of motion blur in the video, it has problems. The best way to actually get PERFICT slow motion from any video (HD or otherwise) camera that is under the $7k mark is to just chock up and buy an HVX200 from Panny. I persionally have never even touched one, but I have seen a ton of overcranked shots done with the HVX and they look P-E-R-I-F-E-C-T. Period. A plus to this is, you will need no software other then your NLE (and maybe the plugin for the mxf files) to get slow motion. Granted, the HVX is pricey, as are P2 cards, but now that the cam is being shipped with a 16gig card, if you have a laptop, you can shoot your poop (pardon my french, but it sounds snazzy), drop it onto the laptop and do it again. Maybe there are some plugins or apps I am unaware of, but I doubt it, since I have searched for ever to find a way to do it. If you know of another way, PLEASE LET US KNOW!!! I will say this; I just got a Panny DVX100B and LOVE this thing, so I cant immagine what the HVX would be like. Later, Dory
  16. My DVX, tripod and new used iPod are on the UPS truck out for delivery, and I have been up since 8ish not being able to wait much longer. Now the printer is broken and I cant even do geomitry to keep myself occupied. AHHHHH!!!! Just thought I would complain about it over here, since I am on DVX User.
  17. That was really cool. Amazing stuff. I too am homeschooled, I think it actually has a positive effect on ones creativity.
  18. videocopiolet.net and go to the tutorials section there is one on this.
  19. That was one of the most inspiring reels I have EVER seen Chayse. I would LOVE to et to work with you someday.
  20. DVX100a and the biggest telephoto lens adapter you can find. Or an XL2...
  21. The HVX will look better blown up to film, since there is more data to start with. Iraq in Fragments was shto on both a DVX100 and a DVX100a, then blown up to HD via TIFF and a special codec for 35mm out.
  22. I'd do it, as long as you have an assured income source for the entirety of the loan period.
