Hi it's a post production question, i don't know where to post it honestly. The film is shot on HDcam, we have a graded master on HDcam. the last thing to do prior to go to a print is to create the subtitles and the credits. the subtitles existes already in the SD timeline. what should i recomand the production to do? what is the procedure to create subtitles in HD. how do you make subtitles (software?) about the credits that have to be HD too what is the rule (size of letters, time for a line to scroll up?) i have names to write in arabic are there any plugs in in avid to do so? All this is for a short film, and it's my first time taking care of subtitles. thanks to share your experience

thanks each time i see some red footage i have this feeling that it's not comparable neither to film or video. here the depth of field looked important and the last wide looked like more video than the other takes. but also there is this silky touch that remind film. also you did color corected the saturation so i can't tell to much about it.(colors) The flag moves nicely on the wind. again it's different from what i'm used to (it's warmer than the pure sony electronic feeling) it's verry interesting thanks

Big screw up by Arri Munich
Delorme Jean-Marie replied to Adam Thompson's topic in Film Stocks & Processing
when a lab screw up they will give you free fresh stock as a compensation no more no less. lucky them :( -
hi don't build anything hard in a chopper it's not alowed, in case of problem the production will no be covered by any insurence. in case of a control in an airport you'll not be allowed to take off, every nut and bolt in a chopper is aviation certified. the pilote is never supose to have any camera mount. look for a tyler or hand held the camera. if you work with the side door open bring a harness. you can also have a diving knife on your leg put as little people in the chopper as needed NO tourists for aerial work! it's really a rule. scout the site from the ground to look for power lines... if it's in mountains choose an A star B3 it's more expensive but more powerfull chopper.

no sorry it's a "combi rig"

i found it, it's an "aeroslider" see the link below, it works like a snke but you can adjust it : http://www.tsf.fr/fichesproduitsA.asp?idproduit=312
-
true : cont is only 24 or 25 fps, you should have another adjustment switch in the back then varri is every speed between 6 and 120 for an arri 3 for exemple. so if you set var at 24 you'll have the same result with const at 24 but var works with a verry sensible wheel so if you want to work a 24 choose always const.

thanks for your reply, but it wasn't a bazooka nor an ubangui. i wish i had a picture it's a pipe with an euro at one end . the pipe fit in a cercle so you can slide it in ti reach the good heigth. this "circle" is linked to another pipe so the 2 pipes make an X on horizontal and one vertical. maybe it was home made but it looked cinegear and it was in tanger marocco so i believe it wasn't home made. it was blue and black
-
hi i worked recently on a commercial, the grips had a great piece of equipment, i'd like to know how it's called. basicly it's 2 pipes you can slide up and down to adjust the highth to put the head and a certain distance. to me it's better than a lambda head or an MK IV beacause you really can adjust it to the right highth. do you get me?

i did in the past shot stills with short ends if it's what you mean? you have to process it yourself or with a film lab but then you have a neg ! there is no way you can make a contact print yourself and any scan you do will be a homemade teleciné so nothing to compare with (in the motion picture world) you can go for paper print thow.

cheap telecine houses in europe

hi all I have a short film i shot this winter (17') that will have a "positif life" The film will be projected in theaters in algéria in december. As far as i know i have 2 options : - what we call "kinescope" (shoot a celco screen) from the master - or a shoot with an arri lazer from the mater there are no special effects so far i have no ideas of the differences of price between these options. are there any other options? i also heve a serie of 1000 dvd to do with the film. will it be the same timing for both endings? i'll be glad to have your opinion about this. thanks in advance

we also shot "winged migration" with the 35-III on ultralights but it's true we may have had the 235 if it was reliesed at that time.

hi verry good as well interesting point of view different from what we see from this part of the world. at some points it reminded me "Cidade de Deus" did this film inspired you? the moving hand was a little anoying in the dialogue in the couch and it will be even more anoying on a large screen. but thumbs up sir
