  1. If its a branded net filter check the technical information for the filter factor. If you are using any of black hair nets or stockings etc., follow Stephens advise
  2. This is one of the brands available for film shootings. This meter has all the feature that suits your requirement on film sets if you wish to stick to the brand Sekonic, Read the features,You will unserstand it better. The remarkable Sekonic L-558R Dualmaster is the world's most sensitive multi-function meter, reading flash down to an astounding f2 (at ISO 100), twice as low as any other multi-function meter in production. And with the optional PocketWizard module inside, it becomes nothing less than a Master Control Center. You can use it to fire individual cameras and flash units remotely, without wires, using a 16/24 bit, security encoded digital signal. And that's just the beginning of what this meter can do. Utilizing rubber seals throughout the housing and controls of the meter, the DualMaster is water and moisture resistant. Although the meter can be used in rainy or wet conditions, it should not be used underwater. The large LCD panel makes reading the data easy and convenient; the panel illuminates automatically in low-light surroundings. In order to retain the simple stylish look of the DualMaster, less frequently used functions and controls are confined to custom software functions. The L-558R includes Sekonic's unique built-in retractable lumisphere. Simply turn the selector knob to extend it for 3D incident readings or retract it for a narrow incident letering angle that's ideal for brightness evaluations, lighting ratio setups or precise readings of flat subjects. The L-558R is also a true 1 ° spotmeter with a parallax-free viewfinder and in-finder, illuminated digital display showing apertures in tenths, shutter speeds up to 1/8000 sec. and exposure compensation values. The L-558R features an extra large, cool-green illuminated full-information LCD panel that displays the complete range of readouts and modes as well as battery condition. It can memorize and recall up to nine readings in any mode, average them and display them individually on an analog scale. The L-558R includes a flash/ambient analyzing mode that simultaneously reads both flash and ambient light automatically and can display combined flash and ambient readings, percentage of flash in the total exposure and simultaneous display of flash, ambient and combined readings on an analog scale. It also reads in shutter-priority, aperture-priority or EV modes and makes cumulative flash readings in cord or cordless mode. The L-558R includes a broad range of custom settings so pros and enthusiasts can tailor it to their individual working methods. And its body and controls are so well sealed that it's rated splashproof to JIS water-resistance standard - so serious photographers can take control with confidence in any weather. The L-558R is competitively priced. It gives pros and serious enthusiasts exactly what they need - nothing more and nothing less - and represents a remarkable value. Key Features ? Spot with Digital Display The L-558R DUALMASTER features a rectangular 1° parallax-free spot viewfinder. In dim or bright light situations, the L-558R's spot viewfinder displays f-stops, shutter speeds and more. The built-in spot meter measures both reflected ambient, flash or combined lighting. The optical finder also features an eyepiece with an adjustable diopter. ? Includes Plug-in Radio Transmitter Module Electronic flash units and/or cameras can be triggered wirelessly with the optional plug-in digital radio Transmitter module (compatible with all PocketWizard Digital Radios).Simultaneous triggering and measuring of flash units up to 100 feet away is possible. With its new easy-to-use Selective Quad-Triggering control (4 zone lighting control), the L-558R offers quick selection of which flash unit to trigger and measure independently with a touch of a key. Now you can individually measure several flash units wirelessly by the touch of the meter's measuring button, without walking over to each light and turning it on or off. ? Memory Mode Up to nine readings can be memorized in incident or spot metering modes independently in both Aperture and Shutter Priority Modes. The memory function of the L-558R provides the photographer with an effective way of retaining and analyzing shadow, midtone and highlight exposure readings. ? Full, 1/2 or 1/3-step Selectable Readings Both shutter speeds and apertures can be displayed in either full, 1/2 or 1/3-step increments to match your film or digital camera; selecting these increments is quick and easy with custom software menu settings. ? Exposure, Calibration and Filter Compensation Independent incident and reflected exposure compensation of up to +/-9.9 EV can be easily set for custom film exposure corrections or for bellows extension factors. With the calibration compensation setting of +/-1.0 EV, matching built-in camera meters or other handheld meters is a snap. There is even a filter compensation setting of +/-5.0 EV for filter factor compensation. ? Dual ISO Settings The L-558R offers the flexibility of taking a single measurement and displaying the f-stop and shutter speed for two different ISO film speeds, such as negative film and Polaroid proofing film. ? Brightness Difference function Displays the difference in exposure between a new reading and the last memorized measurement. It is expressed in precise plus or minus 1/10 step Exposure Values (EV) readout. ? Full-Featured Flash Measurements 1. Cord Flash Mode 2. Cordless Flash Mode 3. Unlimited Multiple Flash Mode 4. Radio Triggering Mode ? Cinema friendly Ideally suited to motion picture, video and specialized measurement needs. Cinematographers will appreciate the unique combination of built-in incident and reflected 1° spot measurement and an extreme range of full and half cine speeds from 2 to 360 fps. ? All Weather Design All buttons, switches and compartments are sealed and the meter housing has been constructed with durable, rugged conditions in mind.
  3. Arri:- The Joker 1200, like all Joker type fixtures is a Par fixture, using a specular parabolic reflector. This 1200W HMI uses a special lamp, engineered by Phillips, which allowed K5600 to reduce the size of the unit and to create a compact kit. There are 4 different lenses available, to affect the intensity, quality, and spread of the light emitted by the fixture. When fitted with an optional 1200 watt HMI bulb, and the optional Medium Flood lens, the fixture will throw a beam of 565 footcandles 6.2 x 3', from a distance of 15 feet. The optional multi-voltage electronic power supply is silent, and dimmable by 10%. The optional HMI bulb is 1200 Watt MSR/SE single ended discharge, 5600° Kelvin, 400 hours maximum life. The head accepts 9" diameter accessories. assorted lenses available Mole:- A highly efficient, compact source of daylight using a 1,200 watt HMI single-ended globe. A solid-state, electronic, flicker-free ballast is available Hot restrike allows restarting immediately after shutting down the light. Safety switch prevents fixture from turning on if the door to the fixture is open. All aluminum construction. Four lense assemblies from narrow spot to extra wide flood are available separately to alter the beam spread of the fixture. The oval beam pattern created by the lenses may be rotated within the diffuser clips for vertical or horizontal beam orientation. These are the key features of the fixures, compare the price and evaluate by your self.
  4. Dear Eric, Primarily all incident light meters are designed to measure the luminous intensity of the light falling on the subject. These incident light meters does not count or consider the color reflectence of the actual subject matter, incident light meter is a great asset in predicting the exposure setting for a scene in general. The dome on the incident light meter is designed similar to the reflectance of an 18% gray card. If you measure the light with incident light meter (calibareted for 18% gray)dark skined are tend to go under exposed.(depending up on skin texture, tone, lighting angle etc.,) Dark skin takes more light. to be precise on exposure, it is better to use reflected light meter to calculate the accurate skin reflectance of individual skin on any given frame to evaluate and optimize the exposure. Once the key skin tone is pegged you can maintain the same consistency through out the entire filming. Entire cast present in whole film are dark skinned and all of them are going to be more or less on the same scale. Wish you good luck
  5. I don't think its a good idiea. It resricts creative freedom a lot. Arri 2C are too noisy. I don't think its a good idiea. It resricts creative freedom a lot. Arri 2C are too noisy.
  6. I am NewYork based DP,working on (35mm anamorphic ) project that involves travelling Matte Composites. I Welcome you all to share your thoughts and valuable experiences with me. Thank you
  7. Chandra M.Mouli Dir.of Photography I shot a feature film ( 35mm anamorphic) in Romania last month, No chance of getting anamorphic lenses in Romania, even if you get in east europe without knowing the condition of lenses is like blind date. Better rent set of HAWK lenses, ground glass (anamorphic markings)and eye-piece from US; ARRI 535B camera (PL-mount) is available in Bucharest if you book in advance. I guess CSC NewYork carries Hawk lenes. You can't even expect dust off ,make sure to carry & local AC check the gate every shot. They don't practice that. I got good deal from Panavision (London)Ltd, Panaflex platinium camera with set of panavision primo anamorphic lenses package, try there. Not many Romanian AC's familiarity with the Panavision system, I trained one local guy on panavision, his name is christie of CASTEL STUDIOS.My local gaffer was Stefen is also from castele studios.they were good. PARAFILMS provided us with the local crew and production services. Good luck with Romania shoot .
