  1. Not sure if this will help? 7285 is reversal stock, and is quite vibrant. Keep in mind 7285 is 100D. If your planing on using 7218 500T, 100D might be to slow for your project. Reversal fim also has less latitude as well. Some examples would be MAN ON FIRE, DOMINO, and I think BLACK HAWK DOWN these films were also push processed I believe. Fuji has a new VIBRANT stock 160 I think as well. Good luck on your project. Toby
  2. Nice You don't see many Bolex Pro's. There have been a couple in like three years on Ebay, that I noticed anyway. They usually get a pretty good price. Do you have any work you can show using the Pro? Toby
  3. This guy sells 35mm- 16mm short ends and re-cans on Ebay, or call him direct. www. certifiedfilm.com He will also spoll 35mm motiom picture film on 35mm SLR rolls so you can test it with your still camera. http://myworld.ebay.com/certifiedfilm/ I have had good luck with him. Toby
  4. Giles' Thanks for the tip. The MPEG 4 LOOKS MUCH BETTER. Now I have to go back and watch all the clips again. Toby
  5. Hey Daniel' I picked up a 35mm KONVAS 2M WITH 3 PRIME LOMO LENS. for $1,200.00 It took about an hour to figure out how to load the mags. Under 2,000 and I'm shooting 35mm. There are a few feature length movies shot with this camera. Search the internet to see the quality of footage with the LOMO lens on a Konvas. You won't be disapointed. If you can afford to shoot digital, you can shoot film. Thanks Michael' Bolex Pro, nice camera, sure would like to try that someday. Is the Pro self blimped? The new film stocks are helping Super8 in a big way. I will take Super8 over Mini DVcam anyday!!!
  6. There are several places that do S16 conversions for these camera's I was quoted $350.00 from Camera Pro if memory serves. Toby
  7. I started with video. I bought a wind up B&H 16MM on Ebay $50.00 ,bought 3 rolls of 16mm reversal from Kodak. $90.00 I'm sure they will ship to you in the UK. When I projected the footage on my wall it changed my life. thus far the look and feel of film cant be beat!! I see you guys posting about the RED and how great it is, that's $40,000 and you still don't get the look.( NOT KNOCKING THE RED) A fifty dollar wind up camera produces a way better image than my 4,000 DVCAM. for such a small price you should at least give it a try. Toby
  8. Is the "jumper" the same guy from Saints And Soldiers? Shure looks like the same guy. Toby
  9. Frank' I cought this at the Phoenix Film Fest last year. I thought the cinemotography was amazing and by far the best short. It was nice to see an amazing picture among all the washed out Digital stuff. Not sure what Digital projector they used but based on the link you provided it did you no justice. I hope to see more of your work next year. The acting was pretty amazing to. Toby
  10. Eric' The DV clip looks really good. I really like the lighting. Add a little FILM to that and it's going to be way more believable.Hope we see some film clips soon. Check out www.onsuper8.org There are a few links to full length features shot on super8. Both are well worth the money. Toby
  11. Ya' I don't think The harsh, cold, over sharp look of video would work as well. In the short you go from the bright WESTSIDE "FUJI 50" look to the VALLEY less saturated look and I think it work with the story quite well. Just my opinion. Toby
  12. The plyback from BLIP.TV is a littel jumpy. If you go to the WESTSIDER website ther use to be Quick time files you could download. They playback a little smoother. Mathew' I agree. The new Super 8 stocks looks great. Toby
  13. Wow another Digital image. The only finished work I've seen from Red One is the Crossing The Line trailer. It looks like a cartoon! There are a couple pics at Reduser that look like CG or hyper reality. I guess some people like that CG look? I would like to see some footage that looks better than film. 4k just looks fake to me. I thought red was going to replace Film?
  14. Hey that looks pretty cool. Not a big fan of Digital capture but it looks pretty good. I'm working on a no buget WWII short story now, so I find this inspiring. Not sure why there are no replies on this?? Toby
  15. Reversal and negative film's are exposed the same as far as under and overexposure go. Toby
  16. You should be fine. Just make sure your using a similar focal length lens, or get closer or futher from your subject to match your framing on the 8mm lens. Your 35mm SLR meter is like using a spot meter. You should be able to adjust your shutter spead between markings. That might depend on your camera? At any rate 112th to 125th is close enough. Just my opinion. Good luck. 100D is a really nice reversal stock. Toby
  17. If you really want to understand why your footage is underexposed, you should buy a light meter. Super 8 film has a very narrow lattitude(reversal). It will only give you acceptable results one stop(if that) under or overexposed. If you have been shooting film for many years you might be able to guess what stop to use. If not use a light meter. You don't want to guess everytime you shoot. If you learn to use your light meter you can control the look of your footage. Just my opinion. Toby
