  1. I agree that it is superior on skin tones but I really don't like the green in it and also the pastel tendency of Fuji. In regards to Kodak reproducing the video look I have to disagree. I think its all about how you shoot with it!
  2. Hi Abbas, I would suggest you go on the internet and look up - The National Film and Television School, National Film School, Bournemouth University, Ravensbourne College and Westminster University. I believe the first 3 are the best ones. Good Luck!
  3. John, why do you prefer Fuji over Kodak stock?
  4. LOL! I suppose it gets like that when trying to take in ALL the different info at the same time. Just don't get too bogged down by it!
  5. Hey Rick, The bbc has some 750/900 settings doc on their R&D website... You do however need to know about digital cinematography....if you don't may I recommend Paul Wheeler's "Digital Cinematography" book.
  6. Really?? I thought it was as plain as day...... 1. He's pointing out that the ppl at the top of our food chain don't need to worry about costs - hence Kodak's hike in price, but a blinkered view! 2. They're not really thinking about tomorrow's ppl. Is it possible that mr 'ink cartridge salesman' is probably thinking that digital is inevitably going to completely take over the film industry and he's just trying to make as much money whilst he can? I wonder.....
  7. All the better....lets just get there sooner rather than later and lets just stop fooking around with these pseudo-hd formats!
  8. I can't wait for the day when the HD dust has settled..... Otherwise we all have to be absolute technical geniuses like our very own John Sprung.
  9. For the obvious reasons that John has stated I think the F900...but I have seen some really nice stuff shot on the HVX with the P35. I think it is by far the best prosumer cam out there at the mo. If you can get both cams in for a test and judge which one fits your needs.
  10. The state of tv programming is absolutely terrible. Its mind numbing! I have certain feelings of resentment towards the beeb, which include their cheeky attempt to reduce camera rates..... In contrary to that, they do do a couple of great programs of the genre like Animal Planet, China, J Dimbebly's Russian experience etc.....which are the best things on tv! And in regards to the topic, many moons ago I kept refusing them entry and after a while they just sent me a letter accepting my case and that they wouldn't hassle me for the next 2 years.
  11. Hey Michael, Good work!!....not too keen on music and the story. Can you gives us a low down on the lighting employed?
  12. Definitely some better legs than those.....it really makes a big difference a good set of legs. Also try and pick up a 3 light kit or something like that which includes a 1k.
  13. I really hope this is not true!! I'm constantly standing up for film but sometimes feel like the current is too strong......
  14. I take it that by (ex1000') you mean mags.....if I don't specify it tends to default at 400feet mags
  15. I didn't doubt you John....I was just sure I read that it was shot on HD. I have since had a look around and found out that it was printed on HD....there lies my mistake. So apologies Milo but John is right, it was shot on 35mm....
  16. I must be completely mistaken but I thought I read somewhere when it was in pre that it was an HD shoot (900)....
  17. Hi Milo, Most BBC dramas are still being shot on S16mm over here. Every now and again you get something like the drama about the romans..erm...damn can't remember the name.....Let's call it "The Romans" for now....that was shot on HD. As you might know the BBC don't spend in the way that HBO etc does on their programming. Because when shooting on HD you can see every scratch and imperfection so nearly every other dept(art, costumes etc..) needs to up its finishing standard...thus generating more costs! So for now, the HD route kinda goes against their budgetary principles. If you weren't to worry about the above and made a comparison between the costs on shooting HD and film they would pretty much meet at the same total. I believe that unless they make cuts on wages or change their ways then I can only see that in the near future s16 will be the format used for Dramas over here. Which as far as I am concerned is not a bad thing at all. Dr Who is shot on digi.... Cheers
  18. To be honest it was a bit too techie for me...I was also looking for the creative stuff and they just didn't cover that side at all. So I left with my degree feeling a bit disappointed and disenchanted. I trainee'd and assisted on a lot of promo's, commercials, films etc.. whilst studying there and that complemented what I was missing! How is it going for you?
  19. I absolutely love my job and I feel very lucky that I discovered it....there are millions of people out there that get up every morning and curse the job that they are about to go and do. I only curse having to get up so early!!
  20. I haven't seen it yet....has he really messed it up? If so, how?
  21. Anyone in the UK (London pref) know of a good place to calibrate meter (Sekonic)? Cheers S
  22. Hey Michael, I know you are in the US but who did you send your meter to to calibrate it? S
