  4. anyone has any good examples of night exteriors in movies where they play it really dark like no moonlight? Extremely stark? Thanks Miguel For example Suspect zero in the opening of the car scene there was pitch black outside.
  5. Hi, I was planing to use Digital Primo Zooms on a F900 on a car mount. One of the persons invovled in the shoot told me that he was aorriwd that vibration using that zoom qould make the lense fall off or the camera mount better said wont be able t o hold. Instead he recommended to use Digi primes for this. Any opinions on this? Has anyone used zooms on this type of situation. Hi chance of dirt road. Thanks Miguel
  6. Thanks for the tips.. yea I goen through the searches and read over 20 pages of ideas..all pretty good. My big problem is time. 12 day shoot for a 95 page script so I am trying to find a way to do the car day exterior shots and dont rig stuff for hours which would kill me. thanks! Miguel
  7. Hi, Has abyone lit a car night seen with lights powerd from cars? I am planing maybe to use the kinos for this, the micros? which other units can someone recommend me. AS well for day is there any light that can run from battery and be powerfull enough to compensate a little for day exterior? I want outside to be hotter but not bananas hot. ANy recommendations please? Thanks! Miguel ps: shotting on f900
  8. Thanks! I will telecine tomorrow the footage and post some images. Miguel
  9. Car Interior Day/Night Hi I am shooting a lot of car interiors on f900 in day and night (desert). Coming up with different plans. I am curios to see anyones experience with setups that include car mounts (no process trailer) and bringing the level up inside as much as possible. What units, tricks etc. It would help me a lot. I know the look I want but seeing others people aproach will help me a lot. Thanks! Miguel
  10. Hi, This are some digital stills (canon rebel xt) refrences for the printing of something shot on 5279. Really close look of the final pritn on vision. Well DOF was totalley different. The interiors were done with 2k open faces through 6*6 dif and gold gel adn the bounce/fill was done with a 3*3 piece of wood. I dont remeber all the expuseres because I did it by eye and just exposed or over exposed the key light by a stop or something. FG elements were backlight by midgtes. All that was shot in a classroom. just dressed it up for camera. The exterior was uncorrected tungsten. exposing for the outside. her is one more... on this link cant upload more images to the post... 3 5 6 7 Miguel
  11. Hi I am looking in to HD lenses fopr a movie. Only have used DIgiprimes before. I wanted to use some digiprimes and a couple zooms. I was looking at the HD primos at Panavision. Never compared them before for matching..has any1 used both? do they match close enough? As well if I go with another rental house I was thinking of using Digiprimes, Or Fuji HD lenses with some zoom like canon. ANy recommendations? One more thing..this movie is most probably going direct to video and I am planing to do a lot in camera but in case it goes to film I though of shooting clean and doing in timing after all the color grading. I rather do the basic in camera but wanted peoples opinion and experience on this. Thanks a lot! Miguel
  12. Hi, anyonehas examples of the streak filters that they can post please? I am planing to use this but still waiting to test them. Thanks very much! Miguel
  13. would you judge exposure by a good color viewfinder? M
  14. Hi, I am shooting a feature film in June in 12 days pretty intense but a good small and fun project. I am building now the camera package and talking with rentals house. I have a couple questions so any recommendations are really helpful. As you may guess is HD. Two options F900 or Varicam. there is a lot of night and day exterior in the desert so I think f900 is better for the extra resolution. Its a little bigger thou. I need to move fast. I have worked a lot with f900 and like it but what a big camera. There are some days (two nights) totally hand held. I am looking into getting the Pro 35 adapter but most probable thing I will be able to get only for one camera (two camera show). Second camera will be for inserts and things so not that worry about it. Any opinions if its too bad idea to use one with it only? If i don?t get the pro 35 I was looking at the Zeiss digiprimes. I do want to work most of the time on a zoom (not the hand held gona kill me). Any good zoom anyone can recommend me? there is a lot of tight shots but I have used once before a 10-250 (I think) and was not impressed with the quality. Any good zoom anyone can recommend me? Maybe in the range of 7-85 or similar. I would love one from the wide range to a longer like 150mm. A lot of rack focus so breathing is a big issue. I have done before the rack focus using the back focus as the rack but is time consuming some times. I have used different onboard monitors with waveform included. I like this so I don?t need to run to monitor all the time to check the exposure and etc. Any good experience with good onboard monitors? I am staying away from paint boxes and less I have someone dealing with it. I am planning to get one good 20" monitor. If I end using the pro 35 I was planning to use super speeds lenses but again I am worried that camera A will have a set of 35mm lenses and B will have HD lenses. What is a good combinations of lenses to match to an acceptable place like digi primes with some 35mm lenses? On the night exteriors I will not use the pro35 to get the stop. I am doing some extreme stuff for the end where I plan to put heavy diffusion on the camera but then crank up the gamma and black levels to bring contrast back. Gonna test this and post some images. Any good recommendations for hand held on f900 (Dona it and wow its heavy)...? A lot of the look will be built in camera and so far I am looking at a couple of rental houses. O and plan to use streak filters any ideas on what I have to be aware with them? I am shooting in Phoenix so If any has shoot there and can recommend me people would be great. Still figuring out if I take crew. But I rather use people from there. O...and i am worried about the heat there..so hot...any issues with the varicam or f900 under hot weather I should know and how to solve it? Thanks a lot! Best Miguel
  15. hi, I like to use really heavy diffusion for some special looks but i cranck in camera so much the gamma and black levels that the diffusion goes away but still leaves a softer edge. Interesting look specially when there is a lot of light. a lot front light. Miguel

  19. O not Color timing in this...beside the lo con lo sat of the compressor for web page.. I have different stuff but this I felt was more in the line of what you were asking. Not 35mm adapter anything even do I would have liked to use it. These are just shots not actual cut scenes. Best Miguel
  20. Hye here is a smaple of dvx100 used for a movie..the sample is lower in quility and I dont know why the blacks when compressed look milky and color sat goes down but still is an idea of diferent uses. All made with minimun lights. Best Miguel ps: here they are www.mb-dp.com/sample.mov
