  1. Never got an answer, but wanted to verify. That if I wanted to get rid the yellowish orange look from the 3200k's after white balancing to the 5000k, I would gel the 3200k's with CTB? Correct?
  2. Hey, how did you know what I asked? Weird...because I over read what David wrote and it answered my own question. But thanks for confirming it. You can put some CTB on the 32k's to get rid of the yellowish orange looks right? That's my theory. Or some kind of gel to decrease the orange/yellow temps? Off topic, but is it video that has trouble with problems like this or is it the same with film?
  3. Would it be easier to use 3.2k to illuminate the room and hit the talent with something else? Edit: Not easier, but more sense to. A big room like that I figured white light would be nice to fill the room with. And 3200k would add a nice effect of natural lights hitting them. It'll be dark outside so no outside lights coming in. Maybe 5000k wouldn't be the right color temp to fill the room. Possibly String up China balls and use a warmer color temp bulbs in the lamps around them.
  4. How do you prevent the 5k from going bluish? I don't mind it going blue, but I don't want to go too blue. Gel it with CTO? But yes, I want the room to be really bright, and the talent to appear as if they are being hit with lamps around the room. I'm thinking 3.2k for that.
  5. Is it possible to mix different bulbs and have good results? For instance. You wanted to light a really big room around 900sq feet with cathedral ceilings, using lights around 5000k And wanted to light a few characters with regular 3200k bulbs, to give the effect of being lit by household lamps. What's going to happen when you white balance? Is something going to get thrown off? Sorry about any misplaced lingo. If I'm using wrong terms here, I'll try to explain better if you ask. thanks
  6. This is probably a dumb question, but wanted to find out first. I was going to order a light with a maximum output rating of 500w. What's going to happen if I put a bulb higher than 500w in there? Fire? Blown fuse? Blown bulb?
  7. I was browsing cinematography websites and came across these two. They both seem very interesting in joining. I wanted to know if they are worth it. Have good lighting diagrams and tuts. http://www.efplighting.com/?EFPlighting%26...%3BIntroduction seems pretty cool, but from what I can see it's mainly aimed towards "interview lighting" which I won't be doing any of. http://www.digitalcinemasociety.org/ is nice as well, and have a trailer for a narrative lighting which I'm more interested in. Have any of you heard good things about any of them? EFP is $50.00 a year and DCS is $30 a year. I wouldn't mind doing both, but prefer one more than other if you have any opinions.
  8. Your story sound a lot like Jewel's.
  9. Become a Scientologist. You'll have a shot then.

    Red

A judgement based on reading past posts? Compared to Sub 4k camera's alike. Like I quoted earlier, I've read more posts with people discerning the RED than praising it. Possibly I skipped over the praising part. And it seemed the gentleman who posted first said it was more about their marketing and strategy not the RED product itself. No worries.

    Red

Oh, it wasn't a matter of whether it mattered to me, I just wanted to see why people disliked the RED here. You mentioned the marketing and strategy and I agree. I've been around the reduser boards a while and there its mainly fan boys who worship the RED and have a bias opinion. I was just checking out what people though over here, less bias opinion.

    Red

I'm new here and been reading on some past forums and from what I have read so far, a fair amount of people don't like RED. Why's that?
  13. I seen an interview with Jason Schwartzman in the movie "Spun" they snorted powder baby milk.
  14. Try Mandy.com I live here in FLA and seem to find some decent work. Whether it be PA or AC, it helps me find people in the business.
  15. Can you dim a halogen light?
  16. Bring back to life. New member here. Thought I'd share. This was never finished, but I wanted to go ahead and post some grabs. China Ball light hanging to the right of talent I believe a 150w CFL Natural light right around the sun setting. Nothing else. Natural light, color corrected in post. Was blueish color. 150 watt bulb on the passenger side outside of the car with blue gel in front. Got a greenish look to it, cause I never CCed any of it.
  17. Andrew, thanks for bringing that up. It's more for Avid/Premiere/FCP. I do believe that arbitrary decisions to not delegate can make for a major hassle for yourself and the people who are designed to do their job. I agree with you, taking control. But I also agree it takes collaboration. If I'm lighting a scene and have a certain mood in mind, and then it gets to the time line and I think it needs to a different look, diff temp, saturation, I'd like to be able to mess with the settings, possibly giving the person doing the cc and idea of what I'm aiming for. But the line of work I do now definitely can't afford a person separate than the editor to CC.
  18. I feel the same way. I know with bigger productions I'm sure it's impossible to CC your own footage, but it would be nice to on something Indie.
  19. Is it common for most DP's wanting to color correct their own footage to achieve the look desired? Is there a a happy medium?
  20. Ahh, okay..so it's like a barn door, but broader. I read ya. Thanks a lot for your replies.
