I know this question may seem pointless as K40 winds its way to the grave but has anyone tried processing it to a black and white negative, ie. first step in the reversal process followed of course by a fix stage. I just wandered what the resulting black and white image might look like once telecined, the idea comes from something Jack Cardiff said about his filming on 'A matter of life and death' where the b&w scenes were shot on technicolour film but not processed for colour, the result is the beautiful pearlescent quality of the 'other life' sequences in this brilliant movie (contender for greatest ever movie IMHO).
Would the KODAK swiss lab be able to offer this or are the machines set up for all the processing steps at once - I imagine this to be the case but just thought i'd ask anyhow?
Im a great fan of K40 since getting into 16mm filming and shot some footage using an bolex ebm in dull weather conditions, looked great on projection but after telecine came back a bit dark and flat colour wise, is this because the telecine machines/operators arent geared up for reversal film - any advice is appreciated!
