  1. Have you tried another top to see if it fixes it?
  2. I have TWO 14.4Ah 12/24V Switchable Block Batteries. High quality units, in custom housing with electronics display. Charger included. 4 & 5-pin XLR outputs £500 each + VAT/shipping or £750/pair
  3. I suppose the important thing is he should shoot something and see if it is good enough for him - numbers rarely give us a true indication of subjective picture quality. It might look alright. It might not. With anamorphic too I guess the picture you begin with may not be using the full resolution of the sensor anyway, which will hurt you too.
  4. Just remember you will only be getting a resolution of 1365 x 1536 for the 16x9 extraction. Someone correct my maths if I am wrong. Before anyone rushes to mention the F900 again, it is worth pointing out the F900 had three sensors. So an F900 centre crop had three times 1920 x 800 - or approx 4.5MP - versus approximately 2MP for a 16:9 extraction from the ALEXA 4:3 sensor. I wouldn't even want to do the maths if you were cropping from a 16x9 sensor... it wouldn't be good!
  5. You can create custom framelines for the ALEXA on the ARRI website. Like... http://www.arri.com/fileadmin/adapps/frameline_v3/index.php?camera=ALEXA&sensorMode=4_3&aspectA=2.39a&ownAspectA=&markerStyleA=1&outsideShadingA=0&shrink_A=100&formatNameA=2.39:1anamorphic2x_scaling100%&aspectB=1.85a&ownAspectB=&markerStyleB=1&outsideShadingB=0&shrink_B=100&formatNameB=1.85:1anamorphic2x_scaling100%&aspectC=0&ownAspectC=&markerStyleC=1&shrink_C=100&formatNameC=Format C&position=undefined&centerMarker=off&lineWidth=4&shrink=100&aPosH=0&bPosH=0&cPosH=0
  6. If it helps, or to clarify, the Amira, despite having the 4:3 sensor, does not have a 4:3 mode and probably never will. What Phil says about HD cameras is partly true - the F900 was a full 1080P camera, but the tape deck sub-sampled. The problem is shooting on anamorphic with the alexa, then cropping the middle, you're using a very small sliver of a sensor and the resulting picture might not be up to standard... but I don't know what standards you need to meet. Personally I would as others have suggested shoot spherical, however it seems that is not an option for you.
  7. Edgar Assuming pin wiring is correct - you should be fine. I believe 12V XLR 4-pin is a universally standard wiring
  8. As you say they are both rehoused from Nikon lenses. I do not believe TLS do any work on the optics beyond making sure they are clean, the majority of their work is in the mechanical side and TLS are world-class. A guy on reduser had some for sale, I believe his name was Pete Barta, he had the Morpheus. Alternatively perhaps you can contact TLS directly - they might have some more factual footage to use?

  11. Maxim, do you know what cameras you are referring to? It isn't always clear cut either - some cameras have multiple compression schemes, some of which are much more efficient than others (eg. deliver higher quality for the same bitrate)
  12. Honestly, I have almost zero knowledge of anything involved after the grade!
  13. What I meant was, I would have thought they'd have three masters... a 4K, a 2K and a 1080P?
  14. I have both a Moviecam Compact & SL for sale. I have a vast amount of accessories, ground glasses, magazines, etc... Prices for camera kits are between £4,000 and £6,000 for a kit, depending on what you require. I also have plenty of spares if anyone is looking for any. Let me know what you are looking for. The cameras have just been tested and inspected by a trained senior camera tech, full working order.
  15. Interesting, I would have thought they would only distribute in 4K to 4K-equipped cinemas? I can imagine if a projector is down-rezzing on the fly then there is definitely scope for moire to appear
  16. I couldn't see any issues in that clip, but YouTube is a git. I think if pausing makes it go away, then it is an artifact being created by your NLE. Out of curiosity, did you shoot Anamorphic?
  17. The F65 also has a 45 degree rotated sensor, so aliasing should be very rare. I've never seen it in the camera footage. It can appear later down the line, but that is not F65 specific.
  18. Without wishing to derail the thread, I'm curious as to what issues you think the F65 has? I have never known anyone to comment on it as lacking, although that might not be what you meant...
  19. You have been PM'd. This specific camera was sold but others are available
  20. Hi I have an ARRI 435ES available, but NG - for £1,000 + VAT/shipping. I bought it as a piece of art for my room. It powers up, but just goes beep. Not sure what the issue is. I also have the three 400' magazines that went with it - they are all good. I am offering those at £300/piece +VAT/Shipping. By all three for £800 and I'll throw in the case too! James
  21. I'll have to catch you for the next one ;)
