  1. I have never known ACs to complain about a lens as much as a Red Pro Prime. My Standard speeds have small engravings, move in and out, are slightly soft around the edges wide open but they light up an ACs eyes after they've been working with stills lenses, or RPPs. People don't seem to be able to offload the RPPs at all.
  2. I wonder if TLS did them. The UK has very few lens-makers, if Cooke say they didn't do them, True Lens might have. They have a reputation as good people for the re-housing of old Cookes etc...
  3. Honesty is ALWAYS the best policy, and never say you can do something until you're certain you can. Try and find people at a similar level to yourself, so you can all learn together. Alongisde this, see if you can trainee for any more established DoPs to see how they do things.
  4. As above, if you have these or know someone who does, I would be very grateful. James
  5. Yeah, apparently this was improved in the Mark II version of the lenses. Annoyingly, I just bought a clip-on matte box, but fortunately it converts to swing-away quite easily.
  6. Hi Robert I have seen the Odyssey. Currently I'm using a Cinedeck as a monitor, but the camera I'm switching to doesn't really work with outboard recording, hence getting a dedicated AC's monitor. James
  7. Hi guys I am buying a new camera and for various reasons my previous on-board monitor has to go. I need a replacement, but as I never really look at the monitor, I thought I'd ask around here and see what monitors people are currently pulling from and what they like. My only real criteria are it must take HD-SDI and cost no more than about $3000 or so. I'd also like it to be relatively lightweight. Current contenders are the venerable TVLogic, but I also see the SmallHDs sound quite good. OLED especially, I really like. Best James
  8. Hi all I've just bought myself a set of the above lenses. Will be using with my F65 when it arrives. Very interested to see how they perform. If anyone would like some high res stills, let me know. James
  9. Does it need to be perfectly steady? If you brace yourself well and the car isn't travelling fast or over rocky ground, you can get a fairly good image and I normally find perfectly static stuff in a car can feel unnatural. Of course, it may suit your shot/scene in which case ignore me :)
  10. Gone to auction, I need to clear space as my F65 is on its way! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/141363561285
  11. I have a MOVIECAM compact if you're interested. I bought two and am keeping one for myself, but the other is up for sale.
  12. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/141360464090 My main camera for the past two years - shot four features and many shorts with it. Making way for an F65.
  13. Stuart, All my own stock, everything I sell is owned by me. If ever I sell anything on behalf of someone else, I would mention it in the listing and I will give Tim a bell. Thanks James
  14. FOR SALE EX-PANAVISION ARRIFLEX 535B with Accessories £4,995 (+VAT for UK Buyers) Can Ship Worldwide The Arriflex 535B is really the daddy of all modern ARRI film cameras. Introduced in the 1990s as a replacement to the venerable, but aging 35 series, the ARRIFLEX continues to be used on motion pictures to this day. It is usually used in conjunction with either an ARRICAM LT or a 435. Roger Deakins is known as a great supporter of this camera, using it on all of his productions from the 90s up until True Grit. The 535B is a SYNC SOUND camera, meaning it is quiet enough to shoot sound - not something which can be said of the 435. The camera is designed as a partner to the slightly more advanced 535, the main difference being the 535B has a manually adjustable shutter rather than electronic. This camera is ex-Panavision stock and as such has been kept in the absolute best condition. Obviously the exterior wears the marks of many years of service, but the interior of this camera can only be described as pristine. This is the last of three 535Bs I have had and although I was going to keep this for myself, I have had such overwhelming demand it seems cruel to keep it! There is a lot more in this kit than the others I have sold, and this camera comes with a great history - it was used on the films Hideaway, Tank Girl and Virtuosity by Gale Tattersall, BSC. New, the camera body alone cost over £100,000 and it is an absolute tank. This package comes with all you would expect and more, including: 1x ARRI 535B Body - PL Lens Mount (Regular or S35 changeable) 1x Universal Gate 1x Ground Glass (Markings TBC) 1x ARRI Integrated Video Assist (Modern Version) 1x ARRI Wide-Angle Eyepiece 1x ARRI Extension Eyepiece 1x Worklight 3x 400' ARRI 535B Magazines 3x 1000' ARRI 535B Magazines 1x 400' Steadicam Magazine 1x Panavision-wired power cable (very rare!) I can supply an ANAMORPHIC EYEPIECE for £1,000 more. The camera is setup for 4-perforation movement. Please let me know if you have any questions or queries about the camera. The camera and magazines come many cases. I can courier this item but the cost will be high. Please let me know your location before bidding if you want an accurate shipping estimate.
