  6. But a still 35mm is 8 perf , not a super 35 mm about 3 pref , thats why effects houses used Vistavision for years ,and in some cases still do . Execs . at Warners or any other studio arnt that smart . [ Superman Returns $250 ] just as an example . John Holland London.
  7. Yes think it was a Worrell fluid head ,a big one XR 35 must have been half the weight of a BNCR , only used one once , not many of them over here . John Holland , London.

  10. Seeing Tims piece about Movies being shot on Fuji stock . i was surprised to see that The Golden Compass is included in it , i was sure this was going to be shot HD using Panavision Genesis, anybody heard anything about this change to film ? john holland .
  11. I have always overexposed blue screen by at least two stops ! but greenscreen , nah . john holland.

Well far has i am concerned ,back light rules and some nice soft fill , i have spent my whole life only shooting , be it stills, movies ,tv progs that i have lit , always well almost was the large back light as a key , and then just sort out c.u.s with soft fill . bounce from the back light . interior or ext . i know i am not normal , but it works ,has for years for me . think its my David Watkin influence . john.
  13. When Douglas Slocombe shot the 3 Indiana Jones film , he was using the first high speed Kodak stocks for studio sets . 5293, 320 asa , for Raiders. and then what ever replaced that for the other 2. and 50 and 100asa for exteriors . still no meter ! john .

  16. I think as the most important technical person on a set you must keep your cool at all times and try and keep a nice relaxed atmosphere with humour ,its only a movie . If there are real problems , they should be dealt with the Director , Producer at the end of the day . Some times things cant resolved , but not often . john .

  19. hi i said under expose to try bring up the grain , if you saw this movie projected , you would see loads of grain , not on a digitally cleaned up dvd . john
  20. Last post is correct ,plus loads of light bounced of the ceiling , use a high speed low con stock , maybe under expose a touch ? dont know how your project is going to be post prod, or how it will it will be seen ? john

  22. Yes never gone more than one and half stops , uesd 81EF takes bit of blue out , i think most most important thing is to keep sky out of shots . john.
