Hi, im just starting to gain as much knowledge with 35mm as possible. what i havent understood yet (apart form a lot of other things, but one step at a time;) )...are there certain lenses needed to achieve a certain aspect ratio ? i mean, obviously for an anamorphic picture you need an anamorphic lens, but what if i wanna shoot in 1,85 or 2,4, how is that achieved ? do i need special lenses for certain formats or is there just the groundglas with the different framing guides and i frame for whatever i wanna shoot and the rest is done during the printing process or gets masked accodingly ? sorry if thats a stupid question, this thing just doesnt wanna get into my head :(

MAC / Safari users having problems?
Dominik Muench replied to David Mullen ASC's topic in General Discussion
neither safari nor mozilla are the fastets web browsers for mac and certainly not opera, which sucks on pc and mac equally....according to the test of a big mac magazine in germany. try this one: http://www.caminobrowser.org/ that is basically a mozilla browser, but specialy designed for the mac cpu cores, which makes them faster. -
im excited to see that peter pau shot it, the bamboo fighting sequence in crouching tiger is one of my all time favourite movie scenes, and my favourite composer klaus badelt made the score :)

oh wow, was it a pre release or was the movie allready finished at that time ? i mean effects wise and everything ? the chances that it gets a cinema release in europe are pretty small i think :/ i can imagine that the catoonish style was on purpose, asian cinema often uses these very surreal moments. crouching tiger hidden dragon and hero had them too, but i like this different view on things.

Hi guys, i have a big problem with my digital SLR which im using sometimes to pre visualize on shoots. yesterday on a photo shoot i discovered that quite a few of my pictures are very noisy and pixelated and even have stripe patters on them, which makes the pictures quite useless :( i uploaded a sample on this page: http://www.hereticarts.com/fc/sab.htm the file is pretty big so you can see easier what i mean. the photo was shot in raw and the converted into uncompressed Tif, the pixel problem is also on the raw file, so it cant be a conversion problem, you can see the problem in the shadow area on the red wall or on the black clothes. anyone has an idea what could be the cause ? it almost looks like the image was taken with an iso 3600 setting :) except it was iso200, the camera is a nikon D70 and the lens a standard 17-70mm DX Nikkor. thanks for any idea.

Hi, i was wondering, why is so little feature work being shoot on the aaton 35mm camera ? its only ever panavison and arri. is it because the camera cant keep up to the technical standards or what ? i only ever used an aaton xtr prod. and i really loved the camera. so why is it that you hear so little about the aaton 35 ?

so far worldwide 70 people have died of bird flue, bird flue is known since 70 years and since this time every year a few birds die of that fever in almost every country.every year 2000 !!!! people die in europe of normal flue or pneumonia. whos panicing there ? what to worry about ? sure it is something that has to be monitored carefully, but its just panic making at the moment. after all pharmaceutical companies wanna sell their "tamiflue" vaccinations. health is a business as hard and as dirty as any other ;) just stay away form those deep fried seagulls they sell at macstupid and kfc ;)

Dominik Muench replied to Dominik Muench's topic in Business Practices & Producing
thanks tim, im sending out applications next week, well the first lot, 100 copies :/ -
no worries, i wonder if they did that on purpose or if it was just "contaminated" material they used for the lens manufacturing.
